i dunno if i will go, but i will keep looking into it. I smoke marijuana, and I don't agree with their perspective on this.

alcohol is a drug, and in my opinion, is more harmful then marijuana. Maybe i'm wrong....
but this does not make sense. it bothers me that it is lumped in with "street drugs" although alcohol is not.
Alcohol use by Scientologists:

I'm really interested in this but i am discouraged by this. maybe i will go down there just to ask some questions.
Are they not the ones that make you pay them money to learn more and more about them?

This is one reason why I do not care much for organized religion. Each person's path is different. Why do you need someone else telling you what is right or wrong for you?
I believe this religion is based on the bestseller, Dianetics by L Ron Hubbard. John Travolta is a Scientologist. From my limited understanding, they place a lot of emphasis on the workings of the mind and its relationship to our physical experience... I have a copy of Dianetics but have never gotten very far into it so I may be wrong on this one.

Another point of view on the Scientology, by ex-Scientologists:

Nice link, Nagual! I can totally relate to the guy that runs that site from what I read on his FAQ.
Living in Germany the people and government are really paranoid due to their political past about anything that smells of mind control sects here and the scientologists have gotten lots of negative press discouraging anyone from getting involved in them.
The press here criticizes that the Americans give scientologist tax exempt/religion status although according to accounts from ex members they practically enslave people mentally and literally and take all their money to get from one level of teaching to another. From what I understand they believe in aliens or similar. Lots of sects are bad but this one is supposed to be more extreme and have some crazy world domination plan by putting their people everywhere in governments and big business and buying up property and stuff worldwide. Is this all paranoid garbage?
Any ex scientologists know what they really believe? I think it is now sect of choice for rich hollywood types(MichaelJackson, etc).
Lots of good info on the following:

I never realized this was so insane.
I went to Scientology a few times in San Diego 20 years ago. As a 17 yo they made a great attempt to make me feel there were alot of aspects to my personality that were inferior. The Idea being once you discover things in your past life, you can deal with them and thus overcome phobias and other negitive traits. You pay alot of money to become a "CLEAR" l Ron Hubbard was also a Science Fiction writter. As to Alcohol I have seen it distroy many more lives then marijuana. Just go to your nearest AA meeting.
i don't know much about Scientology, but from what i've gathered it gleans ideas from psychological, spiritual, and fantastical sources and welds them together into ideas that are partly true and partly bovine excrement. Confusing at the very least, especially anyone desperate for answers. It provides answers aplenty, just maybe not the right ones.
I was wondering if there is any scientologists here ?
I was thinking about going down to thier church too learn some more about them. I like what i have been reading on their site. anyone have any experience with them/ there etc ?
