Back when my interest in mysticism was first starting to bud, I did a lot of research into the essenes, and into the Nazarean gospels.  I have a copy of the Gospel of the Holy Twelve.  However, although these books contain some very interesting stuff, the Gospel of the Holy Twelve was supposadly transferred by channelers from a monastery.  If that is the case, then I wouldn't be surprised if their own beliefs muddied it up heavily.  For instance, the book mentions church bells and apes, something which did NOT exist at that point in ancient Palestine.  The book also portrays Jesus and the essenes as being obsessed with vegetarianism to the point of sheer lunacy.  I wouldn't be surprised if he was a vegetarian, but not to the fanatical extent portrayed there.  Its authenticity is about as flimsy as the Bible itself.  So, there's some good inspiration that can be drawn from it, and its exciting to see references to common new age beliefs, but take these works with a heavy grain of salt.

Thanks - I was a little sceptical about them, especially the last book which was not released until after the translator's death.  Some ideas are very nice though, a lot nicer than many prevalent 'christian' attitudes.
I turned veggie recently, it was something I thought I'd never be able to do - addicted to bacon sandwiches.

Liberated from the secret archives of the Vatican, these sacred scrolls are testaments to the eternal and living truth.

Bits that didn't make it into the bible including Jesus preaching vegetarianism, and err.... yoga?
