I have a theory: Whoever said "we are created in gods image" to those guys long ago, was misunderstood similar to how many people today misunderstand much of what those guys say. Somewhere in the sequence of one life form said to another said to another (since it doesn't translate well to the Human way of thinking), the idea of we were created got in there.
We all have metaphysical abilities and the potential to become more skilled without a glass ceiling. Example:

When I say we are in god's image, I don't mean the literal form of a Human body or even being made of atoms. I mean it in the following context and this way: We are metaphysically made of bizarre shapes and patterns and if you try to draw it on paper or imagine it with your inflexible Human mind you would get it wrong. It doesn't fit into that model. Many of us here at astralpulse.com know this fact from our out of body experiences and the deeper levels of it.
Don't think of any graven images of what god looks like, as the Christians say.

Have you ever read "Interview with an Alien"? It is supposedly based on the only true conversations with the Roswell aliens. In it the alien says (by telepathic thought to the nurse) that we have been built or manufactured in an actual factory of sorts. Based on their previous form and what could survive here in our Ecosystem. It is a good read. But really hard to "wrap your head around".
It is possible we were genetically engineered, like some Humans genetically engineer animals and plants, but its not necessary. Occam's Razor, the simpler theory which explains equally as much is usually true.
If a god (which we all are, just very confused about it) did genetically engineer us, then I'd probably shake his/her/its hand instead of kissing the butt. I build artificial intelligence, and when I eventually build it to be at least as smart as Humans, I would want it to shake my hand instead of ask me for commands, and to build interesting things and improve the world on its own.
Where is that "Interview with an alien"? That has become a more popular phrase since anything of that title was first written.
There usually an easy way to tell if something is written by Humans or from farther away.... If its arrogant or hateful or controlling, its probably from Earth.
Is it "Interview With an Alien" by Inelia Benz? If so, the most important sentence in that book is "This is a work of fiction" which occurs 2 times in the early pages.
A photo of a man is made in his image, but is that all he is. No he's quite a lot more than that.

We are all enslaved by our own self definitions, admittedly most have been programmed
into us by CULTure (including organised Religion), Media & the educational system.
When we search for the truth by going within through meditation, introspection and
other modes of spiritual truth seeking, we will eventually understand that we are more than the form, the image who we temporarily recognise as the ego-self.
When each spiritual being realises that we have always been free, and it is the limited beliefs held
relative to self and the "perceived" reality which entraps the mind, then we can behave accordingly.
How do we apply that which we know to this reality?
By understanding the definitions of Law ie legalese and the presumptions that is attached
to the name, we can choose to not agree to that definition/consent to that contract
because we know who we really are.
