The Writer's Handbook and the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook list publishers, the type of stories they publish, sumbission guidelines, etc.

You can pick them up here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1405041536/qid=1094469739/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-8084633-6658268

You still need GOOD publishing material to get through the "publisher's reader"
Vendi, Vidi, Vici, Mucho denero.

What is it that you are trying to get published?  If you give me the specifications, I can give you a good idea of where to look.  Your best bet is finding a literary agent first, which if you're in the UK, I can give you a link to a web reference containing many.  But I'll wait until you tell me what you have before giving you advice.

 If your interested in writing professionally in the UK, then Nick Daws may be your man.  Though I am in the US, I have tremendously benefited by reading Nick's ebooks.  http://www.nickdaws.co.uk/index.htm
