Caged Animals

In Chester, there's a big one
You should have seen the queues
Don't know why I went
I always feel sad at zoos

The kids were bored at home
Heads we win, tails we lose
They wanted to see the animals
I always feel sad at zoos

Was lured by one abroad
Told there were spectacular views
It didn't lift my spirit
I always feel sad at zoos

Boy gets eaten by tiger
I read it in the news
Hurrah for the tiger, I thought
I always feel sad at zoos

They say they're getting better
But I don't want the blues
Think I'll do something different
I always feel sad at zoos.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

Sarah,

:applause:  :applause:

I went to the bird park in Kuala Lumpur a few weeks ago, was the most depressing thing I've done in a long time. I'm sure that educating the plebeian masses about the world around us is all good and proper, but by the end of it I felt sad all the way down to the soles of my shoes

Great poem

Hi Steve

Thanks for the kind comments.

The zoo I went to abroad was in Singapore.  I wish I hadn't gone.  It was so saddening.

I went to KL a few years ago - I was one of the first people to go up the tallest building in SE Asia - the lifts got stuck and we couldn't do anything for about 10 minutes.  Everyone was panicking - except me - it was very funny

Sarah,

Welcome

Ahh you must be talking about them Petronas towers  You got stuck!? lol.
Yep KL is a bit of a funny place, modern metropolis mixed with 3rd world shanty town. I guess it's one of those places you visit once and move on..
We were there for three days, didn't get round to going up to the bridge between the two...Nice looking building tho.
