Do You Believe In Rencarnation?

In a book I once read, it was interesting that it connected 'phobias' with reincarnation.

If a person was caught for a crime in the 'old days', they would be put in jail. Most of them would rot in there to their deaths, with floors infested by insects, etc. The book says that such an end would create a phobia in their next life of insects: perhaps specifically on spiders or ?.

If a person was thrown off a building in one life, in the next he/she would be afraid of heights. If a person was buried alive in one life, he/she would be afraid of closed-spaces in the next. ETC. Of course I'm not saying that all phobias come from pre-birth, because they can certainly occur at infant-ages.

I read the exact same thing Blackbox, in the Kryon books. Reincarnation develops lots of karma to work through in the form of lessons. Examples i read were fear of abandonment, when a man as a little girl in a past life lost her parents in a sinking ship. I think one part of life is to learn what caused these past afflictions and work through them. These are lessons and the nature of the karma and one purpose of the reincarnation, to enlighten ourselves and raise the overall vibration of humanity one person at a time (we're really not as small and weak as we think we are).

I also heard that homosexuality can stem from either loving one sex or another so much that it carries over cellulary into the next reincarnation. Or maybe someone LOVED being a man, and carried that on. Fascinating stuff, little proof though.

Uhm, I don't think our minds reincarnate with us, we get new ones (there's an explaination, I'm just not coming up with it right).

Also, does everybody reincarnate?

Is everybody a reincarnation? If so, then why are there so many d&*n people?

edit: If somebody has multiple personalities, then does each of those personalities get reincarnated? Or are they, in fact, just a bunch of souls in one body? I have lots of hypothesis about a lot of different things, and about a billion questions more to each question and observation that I encounter.

I too have gotten doubts about reincarnation. I won't deny the possibility or that it may happen sometimes, but what I do doubt is the usefulness.

And the one who said we are slaves of this higher self has a point. You didn't think I thought of that? My counter thought towards that is that you're practically are this 'higher self'. Not like a puppetmaster with some puppets. It might rather be a way of exsisting in both the infinite(higher self) and the physical(through astral body) at the same time. But still you're right, you, the one that is in control of the human body is still the one that's got to do all the hard work, or have all the fun (but that's simply the way you look at it!)

By the way I'm not saying this Higher Self exsists, I can't, and I don't think many people on the forums can. However I had a strange dream/astral encounter a while ago that very possibly could have been a message of this higher self, but you can never be sure.

Anyway we were talking about reincarnation, if it does in fact happen, I really wonder what the true purpose of it is! I mean with the universe being so infinite and all, isn't there an easier way to upgrade your spirit???

I do believe.  I feel I was female last time around, I don't know why but I do.  I was also jewish in a past life also.

I think past lives are like school, which is why we tend to forget most of them.  I mean, do you remember everything you did in first grade?  No, you remeber playing, and learnig to read and write, but thats about it.  Each re-incarnation we learn more, until eventually we know a LOT.  These are the "old souls", the wise people.  It explains why some children are "old beyond their years", and it also explains 'talents' as something learned in a prior life!
