When I got to sleep, my eyes often roll around a lot. It can get very painful, but the more I relax, the less this seems to happen.

The other night I saw the ideoretinal lights (mentioned in Don DeGracia's course) behind my closed eyes for the first time, guess they come before hypnogogic imagery. It looked like so many small yellow stars.. very pretty. Anyhow, my eyes started moving around trying to focus on them.. I tried to relax but they wouldn't stop, and then my right eyelid popped open! Tried to shut it quickly and relax again, but the lights faded. Grr. This happens a lot to me when I try to just "watch" the blackness behind my eyelids and my eyes just force themselves to open, and is quite distracting.

I've thought about getting one of those sleeping masks to help prevent this, but I'm not sure how well it would work. Sure wouldn't help in your situation, Maven.. guess maybe relaxing more might help us both, but it sure is hard to get those eyes to stay still!

Thats Rapid Eye Movement. Good time for a LD.

Yes, this is a huge problem for me!  Often when I try to project, my eyes roll back in my head, like I'm having a seizure or something.  It's such an unpleasant sensation that I lose my focus and then cannot project.  I wish I knew what to do about it.

Yes Lucid Dream. Bruce says the REM means you have a chance for a LD. Now if you feel it uncomfrotably, then I think its extreme REM, a different thing.

I get the REM when I'm trying to relax.. Like when I try to do the technique of concentrating on the heart beats... It seems like when I try and do this my heart starts racing.. What does that mean.. And when U have the REM .. How do u start lucid dreaming?  I know the REM gets very annoying.. cuz its like ur trying to calm ur body down...

Does anyone else get this? When trying to project, my eyes often roll all over the place. In my case they both seem to roll towards my nose, and they keep trying to roll further than they can, which can get a little painful. Is this normal? Anyway to stop this?
