Hi Alkrein,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse forums! [:)] Your experience is subjective so it would be difficult for me to say exactly what you were experiencing. With situations like these, I recommend that people read all they can on OBE, AP and lucid dreaming. Then, you begin to sort these things out as you compare your personal experiences to what you've read.

There are good books on OBE and AP, such as Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce, and The Projection of the Astral Body by Sylvan Muldoon & Hereward Carrington. There are also great books by Robert Monroe, William Buhlman, Robert Peterson, and Scott Rogo to name but a few.

Also, try reading over some of the "sticky" topics here at the Astral Pulse. They are located at the top of the page of almost all the forums. They were made "sticky" because we felt that there was information that could be useful over and over.

We also have a File Library and a Search engine that you may want to explore.

Very best,
Nick

I had a strange experience last night.
I woke up from a dream and I could see the side of my wall that my head was turned to, and I got this kind of intense feeling in my heart, and this network of lines of light flashed across my vision. My first thought was "is this what it's like to astrally project?". Everything felt very sluggish and dull - I could barely move. I got up a little and pulled the covers off the top of my body, then felt that I needed to spit - so I spit up into the air at my wall. I tried turning around to see other parts of my room (it was all dark but I could still see everything), but it was difficult. I tried to speak, but couldn't at first, then my words started coming out as quiet whispers, in which I called out for any spirit guides or Buddhas or anything to help me if I was APing. Nothing else happened, and I woke up and wrote the experience down. The whole experience didn't last very long, but when I woke up the covers were still over me and there was no spit on my wall. I think it may have been something like lucid dreaming or sleep paralysis, but whatever it was it was interesting.

Is this astral projection, or more something like lucid dreaming or sleep paralysis?
I've tried to AP many times but haven't had anything like this happen before.

also- one of the parts of astral projection that intrigues me the most is the aspect of spirit guides and interacting with deities. Is it safe to just call out for your spirit guide once you AP?
