Did you build energy in the first place?  If you work hard on making a psiball, but don't build up any excess energy first, where do you think it comes from?  Try pushing the psiball into a lower chakra or the sub-navel secondary and see if youstill get a headache.

is this due to rapid loss of energy, or what?
