Well, this whole thing could be a hoax, but who cares? It has some pretty amazing effects. The concept comes from taking the two middle songs (tracks 6 and 7, parabol and parabola) and applying the concept of a parabola to the track listing. Obscure, I know, and difficult to visualize, but basically just start in the center and go out. 6,7,5,8,4,9,3,10,2,11,1,12 (13 opt, not a song, but maybe triggers some type of realization if you're in the right state). I got the idea off of a tool message board, so either someone actually figured/randomly tried this out, or someone started a rumor.

Tool's music, especially the more recent stuff, is incredibly mathematical and spiritual. The planning and precision put into this music is incredible, and I've never doubted for a second that they don't know what they're doing.

For those who try this, they can either "assist" the music by following focus onto the descending chakras (i.e. 6-crown, 7, third eye, 5 - throat, etc) or you can just meditate in a mindless, thoughtless state and see what happens.

Another thing that just came back to me is that the subject matter of the songs fit eerily well with the chakra's and their supposed function. Track 5, schism, is about communication, and corresponds with the throat chakra. If you look into it, you'll find many "strange coincedences."

the 13 piece is interval between reality and tool meditation (any better name for it ??)
as for understanding the lyrics for the grudge and lateralus i recommend reading the kybalion, eventually emerald tablet (both in magic forum), if anyone was working on oneself and knows the methods ego and mind use to maintain false identity the grudge will be insightful lecture

i decided to revive the topic becouse of extraordinary results i got after listening to it in suggested sequence
i was aware for first 3 songs, fell in trance during 1 and started feeling the vibes,throbbing heart chakra, skewed perspective like in triangle method, crown chakra simulation working its way down and other chakras in time as well, but at some point i lost consciousness and was drifting in and out(of my body?, maybe), hearing music, sinking, hearing again, but that was no dream, i don't know what it was really but nowhere near dreaming, after i heard the 13 piece again i realised that i was in deep paralisis, never got that deep, all my chakras were gently pulsing and i felt cleansed like never in my life, try it
