Hi there Sarah !!

The "astral screen" effect is normally associated with phasing into the astral realms.....Typically during practise a small area of brightness may enlarge into a tv-sized or cinema-screen sized area. You can basically step through this screen into an astral world.

You mentioned the french windows (of your bedroom?) and floating out of your body...both of which I would associate with a standard Real-time OBE. I've had an experience nearly identical to yours, the only difference being I rolled a couple of feet out of my body instead of floating. I could see nothing, but I knew I was "out". Then the french windows of my bedroom slowly came into view from left to right & I could see the garden fence...I couldn't move, I got excited and woke up !! hee hee.

The "astral screen" (in my experience) differs in that you have no sensation whatsoever of your physical body & the scene that you view is not familiar.

Mark

Has anyone experienced astral paralysis?  I don't know whether it was sleep paralysis disguised, because I don't believe I've ever experienced sleep paralysis before.  This paralysis was in my astral body.  I was totally astral - because I was hovering near the ceiling when it happened!!

Here's the experience.

I became aware.  Before I moved, I imagined myself up above my body and I believe I was.  While I was enjoying this sensation, I realised I was back in the physical and I was astrally 'straining' upwards.  I knew I needed to astrally relax, so I did this and the more I relaxed, the more I felt I was above my physical body.

I got to the stage where I felt I was about 6 or 7 ft above.  I had no vision.  I wanted to move to the left to get out and away, but I couldn't do this.  I seemed to have astral paralysis.  The only way I could move was to float upwards and I knew that even while I was floating, I couldn't move any part of my astral body.

I hovered in my sleeping position near the ceiling and wondered what on earth to do.  I felt very conscious.  I decided to turn my vision on.  I was already expecting to see the lounge in where I was napping.  As I thought this, my vision slowly came into focus.  It was the lounge.  I could see the French windows, with the garden beyond, and the TV set.  However, the picture I had was slowly moving from left to right in front of my eyes.  And it was slowly getting clearer and clearer.  It lasted 2 or 3 seconds until I suddenly thought 'this is an astral screen, yippee, I'm experiencing an astral screen!' and promptly woke up!

I don't know whether that was an astral screen or not, but I seemed to think it was at the time!  It was brilliant, whatever it was, because I have had all sorts of problems with my vision (or lack of it) throughout my OBE life.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
