The guy who founded that web site is the same guy that made Art Bell, of the renowned Coast to Coast AM radio show, so upset, he didn't host his own show for a long time...

Art confronted him (David Oates) on his show as to why so many of his backward recordings had abstract, symbolic messages (which could be interpreted many ways), as opposed to obvious straight-out phrases. When he couldn't argue back, David retreated to accusing Art of raping his son and giving him AIDS (or something to that effect).

It seems to me that there is a variety of causes for these phenomena.  Some of the messages seem to be things that are personal to the singer as if the subconscious mind wanted to let something out.  Others seem to be entities, which is interesting because it means that the writers were influenced to word the songs in a certian way.
