Hi kifyre,

If I'm not mistaken, Franz Bardon mentions quite the same thing in his book, Initiation into Hermetics... The basic method to do this, if I remember correctly, is to "load" the fire element into your body. (But heck, dont ask me *how* ;)

G'day!

I've read about this.  A yoga breathing technique is used. If I remember, this involves breathing in through one nostril, holding the breath, then breathing out through the other nostril.

Take care, Robert.

The way to get hot is to do the following.  Assume the standing on stake position.  This involves standing with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent.  Raise arms up to shoulder level, extend arms with elbows bent and slightly lowered.  Wrists should also be loosely bent--chi prefers to flow along soft lines rather than along rigid lines.  Draw your energy into the dan tien (the chakra four fingers below your navel).  When you pull your stomach in, this will let you know where the dan tien is.  Circle the energy around the dan tien.  It helps to breath slowly and deeply. Yes, the tongue should be on the roof of the mouth--you won't salivate as much.  Hold the standing on stake position, rotating the chi around the dantien, for as long as possible.  You will start to shake, you will sweat, and you will get hot.  This is the most rigorous exercise that you can engage in, and you aren't moving a muscle! :D

After all these years, I still get cold when I don't want to. Even attempting methods to produce heat often give me chills. Trying to make myself cold makes me cold. No one has been able to suggest something to change this. Even kundalini (it was confirmed for me) was cold where it should have been hot. At the same time when I am having chills and shivering, to an objective observer I am very warm to the touch. So why should I perceive temperature changes as cold regardless of if it is up or down?

There is a technique called Tumo(sp?) Yoga that allows practitioners to maintain their body temperatures in freezing conditions. I saw a show where one expert practitioner exerted himself in *sub-zero* water for a lengthy period of time. I believe the normal reaction to such exposure is shock and coma within a minute, if not sooner. After he got out of the water wearing nothing but a bathing suit (in Alaska, in the middle of winter) they took his temperature and it was exactly 98.6.

Anyway, I was wondering of people have had any experience with this kind of thing. I've tried to imagine and visualize heat beating, radiating strongly from my sub-navel and *something* seemed to be happening. (I felt a little less cold.) I don't *think* I was fooling myself. :)

Seems like this technique would be invaluable for certain climates.

This is the only article I can find on this. And yes sorry for bumping a real old thread but I really want to pick up this technique to add to my own repetoire and practice.

If anyone has got a more practical tutorial or article I'd love to read it, thank you :-)

Lama Yeshe's book "The Bliss of Inner Fire" has a better description. It is both simpler and more traditional than the approach described in that link.
