Back in 1985, I was starting to have lucid dreams. More frequently, I was able to decide before going to sleep what to dream about during the night. When I told me dad about it, he said that I was wrong and that the things I thought I experienced didn't happen. Instantly, both developing abilities died that day. The biggest factor seems to me to be how we were taught while starting out in life.

Well lets see.  I am Irish, English, Polish, anf French with just a hint of Black Foot indian tossed into the French.

I do not know if certain things come better through blood but I do think that a lot of a persons abilities are handed down from thier parents.  I know that I am more inclinded to certain things because of my mother.  But if you look at the heridity the Irish were also late to be civilized by the European standards at the time.  The English thought themselves the pioneers of civilization.  The Polish, well they never have thought like every one else.  And the French have been very church going for centeries.  And the Native Americans are highly spiritual and still are in many areas.  But I can not attribute any one thing to my ancestory.

Like I said though I do not think that is so much where you are from but rather Who you are from.

Heredity and OBE

I believe there is a lot we don't know in this respect because it is taboo in many cultures. In the US it is very taboo, unless you live in California. (yes, I'm chuckling Americans)  This leaves us to believe we are a minority but that may or may not be true. As of Celt/French ancestry,  I find I can identify with the spirit of a person more easily than a Nationality. Like an Aura. Certain ancestrial tribes of American Indians have said that they THOUGHT I was American Indian all a long. I am flattered but I must confess, I'm not. The like spirit is drawn to the like, I think. The old Celtic faiths are asimilar to the American Indians and I believe that is the connection. When it comes to OBE I am somewhat frustrated that I have more frequent OBE experiences with the Celts than others. I was raised in strict religious style of christianity but I always knew insde that the forest speaks to me and the oceans. I just decidied to listen regardless of the taboo. And then I found myself here, trying to sort things out.

I know the ability to OBE is universal . . . if one reads the
anthropological literature or listens to the legends, one can only conclude
that OBEs have been happening all over the place from the beginning of human history.

However, despite the popular statement that "anyone" can OBE, I do think there is a hereditary aspect to all this that makes it easier for some and harder (though perhaps not impossible) for others. For instance, I attribute my ability to OBE to my Celtic and Saami blood.

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_question.gif" border=0>Does anyone else out there attribute their OBE abilities to certain ancestors? Does anyone else out there feel comfortable discussing his/her ethnic background and whether or not it contributes (or not) to the ability to
OBE?

My Saami connections are remote, my Celtic ties much less closer. My squabbly, clannish, and so-called "uncivilized"  Scottish ancestors kept their magical ways of thinking much longer than most European folk did.  They converted to Christianity very late (if at all), an became so-called "civilized" late, too (actually, if you came to our family reunions you'd wonder if we ever did).   Connecting with my pre-rational ancestors has made a big difference in my life and in my magical development in general.  The ability to OBE is just another by-product of it!

My theory is that the closer we get to our tribal roots (whatever the tribe), the better off we'll be if we want to develop ourselves.  I can't be the only one who feels this way . . .  is someone out there way ahead of me in developing a theory on this?
