From a point of experience with a form of this.  I have not exactly seen "ghost lights" but I do see things and tend to believe them to be spirites.

The physical presence of a ghost or spirite is usually occompanied by a cold feeling, or air.  Intense, localized, or directed cold can effect some electrical componants.  Extream cold can and does often suck the "life" out of batteries making all maner of things dim or flat die.  Some items do not dim or go dead because they lack the components that are normally effected or are shield against the cold.

Now I am not sure and I don't think anyone else really knows why there is almost always the presence of cold when spirites are around.  That is just currently one more thing we haven't figured out.

sorry, no idea about the ghost lights and draining. maybe you should try walking up to one and interacting with it.

to cainam's response: maybe ghosts come with a variety of different feelings, and cold is just the easiest one for humans to pick out as NOT being just a fluctuation of the environment[?] just an idea.

I've just started reading the book "Monsters" by John Michael Greer. he's a druid. His study of vampires is very interesting. He contends  that they are actually etheric being who in order to stay close to the physical plane must drain etheric energy from other living things making them sick or even killing them, this seems very much like the ghost lights draining energy from things

i think i've glanced through that book before, and if it is the one i'm thinking of then, while it might be good for fantasy ideas or possible historical applications, in today's here and now, it's pretty much crap. but you might be looking at a different one than the one i did.

haha! an epiphany.

maybe the ghost lights aren't sucking up the energy of the electronic things. maybe they are emitting an electromagnetic field that just shut down electronic things. after all to suck the energy out of something should take some time, and each device would turn off at different times depending on how much energy it has to be sucked out. but a powerful enough em field would just shut everything down immediately.

it's a thought.Insert

Many "ghost hunters" use an EM Meter.  They are expensice as hell but they can detect even the most minor of changes in a field.

Now the only thing about that is that the field must be of the correct strength and frequency to interrupt electrical signals.  Look on the internet for EM Generators, EMP riffles, or boxes.

It is possible that the "ghost lights" are just emiting the corect frquency.  However most spirites do not emit enough of an EM field for it to be disruptive to anything.  Actually the field is less than what is normally produced by a living person.

That is why the cold theory is more accepted.

Umm why are they called "ghost lights?"

Anyways, I have seen many shows on TV about "ghost hunters" and yes, they do use EM detecting devices. The problem with these people is they aren't very spiritual, and often sceptic! It's because they are trying to find proof that spirits exist, whereas people like us don't need proof - we already have it [:P]. They also hire people who say they are psychic but really they are simply actors.

A person got trained for half an hour and came out and she fooled an entire audience that she was psychic. Of course she had some acting experience but that just goes to show how gullible people can be. The problem simply is that people used to be very in touch with the spiritual world, but now that's just a myth that people can feed off of and make lots of money from gullible retards.

Back to the topic. I have noticed when there was a spirit around me that I felt some cold and tingle up my spine. I also felt some kind of magnetism, and I've been around a lot of spirits in my life (only recently did I discover Astral Pulse). Each spirit I've been near has different magnetic strength. Sometimes when they just want to be alone they repel me and become hostile as I come near.

Finally, I wanna ask again. Why are they called "ghost lights?????"
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

Their called ghost lights because they take the form of a glowing ball of light.

I have a question about ghost lights, living in south carolina we have alot of them and they seem to do the same thing when they approach all electrical equipement suddenly fails.radios die cars lights go ect., are they some kind of energy vampires, most hold that they are ghost but most ghost's I know of don't drain evergy, if they are ghost what makes this phenomon happen when they approach.
