Now that really would be something to watch ,wouldn't it? It's also obvious that Bush will never agree to that.Without his aides and scriptwriters he would find it difficult to convince a priest that  God exists.

First of all, allowing Sadaam a chance such as this would be his biggest dream.  It would play into his sick dillusion that he is a democratic leader.  It would also give him the chance to use sophistry and rhetoric to try and sound like he actually has some dignity and humanity left in his heart.

No matter what ANYONE thinks about this war, one thing everyone in their right mind realizes is that Sadaam is a sick, violent person...he is a man, according to his wife, who sits down and watches video taped recording of woman being raped and men having their throats slit.  He is a secular leader who acts like he cares about Muslims and the Islamic religion.

I could go on and on... I think it's interesting that people actually take something like this seriously.

I'm not questioning whether or not Saddam is evil or not.  Clearly he is and I've heard of many horrible things about him including some of what you said.

Like I said before, Saddam SHOULD be removed.  I just don't think we're going about it the right way.  No need to alienate ourselves from the rest of the world just because we attack him a month or so too early.

Nerezza

Didn't Saddam's people try to set up a one on one fight between him and bush a few months ago?

Anonymous

Even Bush isn't stupid enough to fall for a one-on-one fight with someone as dishonorable and cowardly as Saddam.

Good words Timeless!
You got my support. Lets Rally! let's hope the sleeping giant (people everywhere not just U.S.) don't take too long to wake up. I can hardly stand the wait--the wake up call is deafening to my ears. Insert You west?

Timeless,

I see your point.  However things don't work that way here unfortunatly.  Yes we vote our leaders into power, yes we vote on many of the laws that come to our attention, and yes we do have the power to effect a change in our government.  However effecting drastic change in our government is nearly an impossible thing.  Americans in general do not hold the same moral values as many other countries.
I do not know who this works in Canada but often when laws are passed around here, at both the state and federal level, there could be 20 other things that get passed with it because they are piggy backed on.  We the citizens often only get a portion of this information.  Also many of the laws passed do not require a "peoples vote" to go into action.  Oh they are kind enough to get our opinion but little else.
Plus when we do get the chance to make our voices heard it often comes at a cost.  Its like the "money on a sting" gag, and they keep pulling the string until they get what they want out of it.  We play the "how bad do you want it" game.  The American public will often willingly trade thier freedoms away to feel safer.  This is the only country that I know of where some one can break into your house, trip over one of the kids toys, break thier arm, and then sue you for negligence, and win.

The cartoon "South Park" and the movie based on it have changed the way I see Saddam. He is no longer a real person to me. Instead, he is a cartoon character who was trampled to death and sent to hell, where he had an intimate relationship with Satan before being kicked out and sent to heaven. There, in heaven, he set up factories for the production of weapons. In this cartoon series a certain military group decides to bomb heaven to destroy the newest factories for the production of weapons. I hope the "real" Saddam is watching.

Why is my country going after Saddam when North Korea seems so much more threatening right now?

you are right, Cainim Naizer, about a burglar suing a homeowner and winning. The system of justice is so corrupt in this country. Child molestors and sex offendors often get less time in jail than someone who gets caught smoking weed. Now, weed harms only the person who consumes it, leaving aside all the drug dealing crap. If they grow it themselves, there shouldn't be a problem. I don't think drugs should be illegal, personally, because there are so many more people out there who are far more dangerous than those who do harm to themselves. Drug addiction is a disease, not a crime. Those who are addicted suffer. They might as well throw people in jail for catching a cold. People are going to do drugs anyway, regardless of the consequences, because they are addicted and need treatment. They say the terrorists benefit from drug sales, but the terrorists could start a business and profit off of something else (oil, perhaps?), so I find that point irrelevant. The police have bigger fish to fry, yet the government puts this on their hands anyway. If you're rich enough in this country you can get away with murder *cough, sneeze* OJ Simpson *hack, cough*. Of course the government acts naiive (sp?) about the whole thing. They'll tell us that nobody will be able to get away with murder. They're so worried about the little things that they seem to not see the big picture. They probably do but don't care. I would think if any war is going to happen in this country, it would be a civil war. Why aren't more people outraged about what is happening? How can people sacrafice their freedoms for safety? They should try living in Iran for a year, then they'll appreciate their freedoms. I'd rather be free than safe. If I were free, I could hold my own. Technology gives us the illusion that we are free and safe. We are neither. Communication, medicine, and travel are the only areas in which technology should thrive. Everything else can be thrown out the window. Look at how dependent we've become on it. Not every cage is made of bars, and not every prison has walls.

Thanks Ender for that post.
It's so true.  This country is becoming less free every year.  Hell, in a couple years I bet China will be more of a free nation than us.  The government has been slowly taking away our freedoms with stupid laws and no one really cares.  They figure the government knows best.  Um, no they don't.  The PEOPLE know best.  We don't elect them to do whatever THEY want without our approval, we elect them to pass laws WE want.  What's even worse is now the WHOLE DAMN ELECTIONS aren't even pure.  So basically take the Declaration of Independece and Bill of Rights and just wipe your butt with them.  That's what this country is coming to, and I'd say about 3/4 of the country doesn't even notice.  If we can't even get a fair election process, why even bother?  I didn't vote in the last election because I didn't register in time, but I wouldn't have voted for Gore or Bush, they're both morons, but atleast Gore didn't try to cheat to win (that we know of).

Ugh... Maybe Tibet will let me join their nice peaceful community.  So many less worries.  [;)]

Washington has already said No to any debate, but do you think Bush should accepts Saddam's proposal for a televised debate?

The way I think of it is if Bush KNOWS he's right and has nothing to hide himself, why not?  Bush saying absolutely not about this makes me wonder about him.

I don't know... I have a couple friends in the armed guard who have been sent over and I would really like to see them again...[V]  But I know the worst thing to do for the troops over seas is to question why they're there.  They need to know that the country they are fighting for are behind them.

Still, I think Bush is being too aggressive about all this.  Saddam IS a bad guy and SHOULD be disarmed/removed, but I think we should take some time, and gather ALOT more world support.  I see no proof of imminent danger that would force us to deal with Saddam right now.

I know Americans aren't the most loved people in the world, and this whole thing isn't going to make us better in the eyes of everyone else.

Sorry for the rambling, I was watching a nightly news program on TV and some of the stuff on it just got me all heated up and ticked off.  Time to cool down for a bit. [}:)]
