Read all the books, they're a million times better than the movie!  I was even moved to tears in some parts.  I'm serious- - - get the books!

The movie Dune is awsome.

I personal suggestion would be to get the directers cut.  You get some thing like 2 hours more of the movie and it makes a whole lot more sence.

I have also seen the more recent release, 2001 I think.  They also, with in the last year, released 1 or 2 more movies that follow the story of Paul's children.  They are done in the same style as the newer Dune movie.  I didn't really care for the effects or acting but the story was interesting.  It's worth a once through.

Hi Cainam,

I asked for the Director's Cut for my birthday (August 5th). I've seen the theatrical cut and now I'm waiting for the other. I can't wait to see what I missed!

I saw the Sci-Fi Channel 2000 remake; in fact I'm still working on finishing it (it's due back today). I've heard of the Children of Dune miniseries but I haven't seen it yet. I will check it out in the future.

Untouch, I like your quote! It's similar to my favourite Bible verse, which roughly reads "Don't speak to a fool; he will only scorn the wisom of your words."

Cainam, of course I like yours, too. [:)]

Hi guys,

Any fans of the movie Dune out here? I discovered it two weeks ago and it's quickly become my favourite movie. :) It's a sci-fi movie from 1984. It has some spiritual elements, like clairvoyance (the main character, Paul Atreides, has visions of his sleep about the planet he's going to visit and the people on it), and astral travel (Paul has visions of tunnel-like rings, and surreal movement of space when he drinks the "water of life").

I did a search on here and found a brief mention under a movie topic. I figured I'd start a topic on this movie beacause it's so enthralling and beatifully produced.
