that's because the image you uploaded didn't fit the conditions for avatars...i bet it was the size of the pic...
TRy to reduce the size and try again, generally the moderator don't wait too long to let it go...
oops i forgot what siz it was requested to be...

Hi curiousgirl,

All avatars are reviewed by Adrian and they usually must be at or about the 64 x 64 pixel range. So the avatar submitted should have appeared by now. I'll go ahead and let Adrian know for you. We should get it straightened out before too long.

hmmm... oooh, heh heh.. well no wonder... i think my pic is way too big... i guess i figured that it just gets shrunk down somehow... guess i'll have to do shrink it myself first.  i just couldn't seem to find any info on the avatar requirements... i didn't see it on the help menu... maybe i didn't look well enough..  sorry [:I]

Greetings Curiousgirl,

The reason your Avatar was most likely rejected is because it was too big. The acceptable size is 64x64 pixels or there abouts.

I have tried to brintg this to the attention of members several times by private message, forums postings and there is even a message on the news scroller about Avatar specifications. I still received Avatars several times each day which are many times the correct size and I reject them. I would think yours was included.

Please submit an Avatar of the correct size and will be accepted.

With best regards,

Adrian.

yes, i already have... or at least close to that... i haven't received any PMs about it, and it didn't really occur to me to search the forums postings, and i don't even know about the news scroller thingy... i'm new here and haven't explored all the various thingies...  haha i've been too absorbed in all the interesting topics, i guess... plus i figured it would be one of those things under the "help stuff", since i figured it would be one of those standard rules everyone should know about.  sorry about that!  it looks like my last one was accepted... thanks!  :-D

I have also uploaded an avatar, finally, and I also was confused about it. I have never seen a webmaster reviewing all avatars, that seems like a hell of a lot of work to me.. Wow, Adrian, I'm really impressed by your dedication. [:X]

Anyhow, Like I said, I also uploaded an avatar, but I have not received any info about it yet, and now I can't help wondering if it wasn't too big. I have no idea how to check the size of a picture, I just know that the avatar is 6 kb. -.-' I will try and again and see if the thingy gives me some more information about the size.

If you are working on a windows computer go into the paint program.

Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint

Once your in paint open the image and then goto the "Image" menu, select "Attributes".  Select "pixels" in the units box at the bottom of the new window that pops up.  Then just look at what it says in the width and height boxes that is the size of the picture.  You can change the size of the picture either here or in the "Stretch/Skew" option under the "Image" menu.  I recommend the "Stretch/Skew" method as you can easily keep the aspect ratio.

Thank you very much for your kind remarks [:)]

Yes, your Avatar needs to be 64x64 pixels or there abouts, although give or take 10% is acceptible. It is also as well to make sure your Avatar is square as well, because the system will make it square, and will therefore distort it if it wasn't square to start with.

Every day I get Avatars uploaded way over the 64x64 size, including many over 1000 pixels! I have sent private messages to all members about this, posted messages in the forums and also have a message on the news scroller, there is not much more I can do!

With best regards,

Adrian.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Adrian.

I have been comparing avatars on the board with the one I would like as avatar and I have noticed that mine is somewhat bigger than the avatars people here have. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to adjust the size of a picture. The picture I would like as my avatar is square, so thankfully I do not have to bother about that. [:D]

Edit: I will ask a friend to size it down. [:)]

Edit 2: Done. [^]

i tried uploading my own avatar a couple of days ago... it gave me a message that said that my avatar has successfully uploaded, and will be reviewed.  how long does that usually take?  i kinda got confused and thought maybe it didn't work, so i tried it 2 more times... so the same avatar got uploaded about 3 times.  the avatar legend says that i haven't uploaded anything, though.  and on my "edit profile" page, it says i haven't selected an avatar.  i'm confused... did my uploads work?  when will it finally show up?
