my legs can never relax

for OBE attempts I lay flat on my back on my comfortable bed. for sleep, i usually turn on my sides or sleep chest down.

Im just like you. I sleep on my side, but ussually OBE while lying flat. I have the opposite problem though. Since I work out alot with upper body (to impress the ladies [;)]) I always feel like there twitching, and cant get them to relax[:(]. Eventually it just goes away however, and I OBE succesfully.

I mean for relaxation lie down on your side. When you are relaxed enough. Lie flat again and try the obe.

yellow,    try stretching  your legs before,  like  some  yoga exercises for example.

Another thing you can do which works for me is shake your legs.  When you're laying on your back, just take your right leg, for example, and just twitch it back and forth, back and forth, over and over.  Keep this up for as long as you can.

After a few minutes, when you stop, it will seem to throb a little bit, and then you'll be surprised at how relaxed it seems.  Works for me, anyway!

Personally I don't recommend lying on your back to attempt an OBE.  I tried this for a while and it's just too easy to drift off.  When you lay down your body, out of habit, thinks it's time to go to bed.  I recomment sitting (perhaps against your bed post) with your legs straight out.  Also stretch before you attempt and OBE, this will ease the tension greatly.  And finally I usually take a few minutes to do breathing excersises before I start.  When I breath out I relax every muscle in my body more then the time before, untill I am completely at ease!

Do a basic sort of full-body stretch first, to relax everything. Then try to do some special stretches like the butterfly, or maybe even some yoga stretches (as suggested above) for your legs only. When you're confident with those, do a full-body, yawning sort of stretch and flop down into whatever position you find comfortable and works for your legs.

I have the same problems with my legs, they're always tense. But it seems that after I go for a run or I do very, very good stretching and attention to them, they melt away more than anything else in my body.

Also try not to feel for tension. You might just create it so you do find it! Seek, and you shall find.

Hello again. Damn I feel like a real newbie! I post too many questions! Thanks for all of your insightful answers by the way.

New question,

I am able to sufficiently relax my body (i think). One thing I do notice is that within my legs I feel there is a great ammount of tension. I can get the upper torso nice and cozy just find, when it comes to the legs however, I have trouble letting them melt away, they always seem to want to be noticed at the wrong times. I guess it feels like my muscles are constricting even though they are not. Any ideas on why I am having so much trouble relaxing these things? I've always noticed this and figured it could be explained by the fact that we as humans are constantly on our feet, thus the reason for these muscles to always want to be active all the time.

any suggestions would be great
