actually, the christian view of demons comes from the jewish religion and is therefore defined by the hebrew language, not the greek.

No No! I was speaking of the entomylogical origins of teh word demon. not teh concept.

i knew that YEARS ago. what makes you think i've only figured that out NOW?

your post was somewhat incorrect in saying that the word demon came from the greek word daemon. while they do appear very similar, they are two different words in the greek language.

>sure you did...*winks*

your post was somewhat incorrect in saying that the word demon came from the greek word daemon.

>sorry but you are the one who is incorrect, I can give you proof in regards to the entymology, but I think it would be a good learning lesson for you to discover your own mistake and find out the reality of it on your own.

while they do appear very similar, they are two different words in the greek language.

>this is such a blatantly incorrect statement that I can only wonder how you managed to come to that conclusion!!
*strokes chin in amazement, picks up wand and taps kaks 3rd eye in hopes that it will open*

Its not latin, its American English. You seem to have difficulty with languages but no wonder....I see you're from Canada where teh national drink is LeBalt Blue (commonly known as moose tinkle).

latin: demon - an unclean or evil spirit. (note: *NOT* fallen angel)
greek: daemon - (basically) a servent of a diety/god

the "english" versions of the bible still contain many words from greek, hebrew, and latin which could easily be translated into english if it weren't for superstition and stupidity which was mostly spread by the catholic church.

technically, the word demon should never appear in the "english" bible, nor should the word baptise (which comes from the greek word baptizo which means "to dip or immerse". the most likely reason why the word baptise is still used is as an excuse for the catholic church to sprinkle babies to supposedly "save" them), nor lucifer (which is latin and means "morning star". on a side note: technically, jesus is a lucifer since he is the "bright and morning star"), nor many others words that do.

but you don't seem to care that much about these things do you. no, apparently you like to show off to the other kids your age about how "cool" it is to insult people rather than actually carry on an intellectual debate.

no, i'm not perfect and i don't know everything and i make mistakes sometimes. and no, i don't major in languages, so you'll have to forgive me when, while making short replies, i'm not able to fully expound upon the truths of certain phrases or ideas.

p.s. i still refer to fallen angels as demons because most people accept this "definition" so it's just easy to talk to them using their own (though incorrect) ideas.
