No, we don't have many hurricanes in Tennessee. [:(]
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Squeek

I'm just south of DC...sooo  I MAY JUST see it [:P]

They cancelled school today.  I can't figure out WHY.  Oh yea... It's a Hurricane.

In southern California we have earthquakes and something called Santa Ana winds (pretty bleak). [B)]  I was born in raised in Philadelphia though, and lived in Miami for about 3 years and can remember a couple of hurricanes. They were awesome forces of nature.

East Coast living and only a half an hour away from the Coast,...Oh Yeah, I'll see it.

Stay safe

Last reports indicate it has hit land in eastern North Carolina.  It's about 300 or so miles south of us.  According to Weather.com, the winds in our area will be averaged around 40mph.  Looks like it hit a rough spot somewhere out there, but it still is a threat.

We've battered down the hatches over here, and I'm sure I'll be fine :p

I'm in PA and I gotta work from 4-10. Hopefully the power will get knocked out or it'll be bad enough that people will stop coming, so we can close early :P
I want off from school tomorrow :|

I agree Tisha, when you look from above they really are spectacular, especially when they're as big as Isabel! Check these images out:

Update from Squeek, who lives in northern VA!

THIS SUCKS FOR ME.  We lost power for 3 and a half hours, then it mysteriously returned.  I might be cut off any second, so I'm typing this FAST.

The storm is 100 miles or so south of here.  We lost power when it was farther away, so when it gets closer we get it back...makes alot of sense.

Save me [:)]

The wind howled all night.  Allistaire, the elder member of our cat contingent, howled along!  5 cats in our bedroom last night - - we didn't sleep too well.

Anyway, we lost a porch light when a ladder fell on it.  Don't ask about the ladder; we forgot all about it.  Anyway, the sun is shining now, it looks like Autumn with all the wet leaves on the ground!

Lot's of wind, lot's of heavy, hard rain,...and now...sun.

Creation is a wonderful thing.

The eye of the hurricane went right over my boyfriend's house.  He was 350 miles away at the time, at MY house, but his sister-in-law just called him and told him he has flood damage.  The water came in, right under his front door, and a LOT of it!  He is NOT a happy camper, he's driving home right now, and since his normal route is washed out he has to go through Baltimore and D.C. . . . it's gonna take him 9 hours to get home. Poor baby!

OK...that storm sucked...

I was online yesterday until oh maybe 9:30, after getting power back at 8, which was lost at 5:30...  On the news it said it would take as many as 7 days to return power to our area, and that 2,000,000 people were without it.  So we decided to pack up and go to our cousin's in New Jersey!  It was lunchtime, and we had no food, so we went to Burger King first...

Big mistake.  Apparently everybody wanted it their way, because it took 30 minutes just to get to the counter!

There is no water here, so they could not mix water with soda syrup and make me a pepsi... a Chocolate Milkshake would have to do...

Oh boy... I spilled the milkshake... they don't make cupholders like they used to.

Oh wow.. a cellphone call...from Dad!  The power's back on at our house!  7 days my foot!

YAY! Internet!

I'm in MA so it will likely hit us. But you never know. Last time the storm made a beeline for Nantucket! LOL! Our rivals (I'm from Martha's Vineyard). revenge for the last football came between our two high schools. How dare they win!! hehe, the storm was nothing more than a little rain for us.

Aww, SHItaki mushrooms! Here it comes! It's... it's... *signal lost*

Tenacious

I live in NC, and let me tell you: I have been through 7 hurricanes.  This one was nothing compared to Hugo. (1989?)  I was at school yesterday when it began to rain and next thing i know, 40 mph winds.  This was a bad storm, but there have been worse.  As far as damage: none here in Greensboro, but in raliegh and east it is pretty dang bad :(.  There may be some pictures of the damage on a local news site :www.fox8wghp.com.

I couldn't upload these two photos, so I added them to my photopage. They're very pretty shots taken from ships at sea, I believe.  On the water at least.  Check-em out! [8D]

Awesome photos. [8D]  Forces of nature can really put things into perspective.

The clouds are rolling in, dark and ominous.  The tropical-force winds are picking up.  What a beautiful day!  Does anyone else out there get to experience this amazing storm?  Answer before your connection to the Internet is lost . . . ha ha  . . .[:P]
