Salvete,

Before I get to your question let me first speak about crystals in general.  All crystals are designed to hold, receive and transmit energy vibrations due to their geometric configurations.  Crystals that are of the "quartz" family are generally used and known to be great conductors.  Because of this characteristic, "quartz" is an all purpose stone which can be used to run programs.  You can program your crystals to hold a message, work for a specific purpose, promote clear communication, deepen meditation, enhance protection, balance chakras, broadcast affirmations, general healing, and work for an infinite number of other purposes.

Now, you asked ... "Can prayer beads be used as a crystal?"
The answer is, technically yes, since all crystals hold vibrations.  But if your looking for specific results, you should choose a proper stone known for its working capabilities.  Color, termination, natural points, posished, clustered and geometry do make a difference in the effectiveness of a specific desired result.  Let me give you an example - colored polished stones are wonderful for healing and mediation because they can be held, worn, or laid on the body.  Polished stones have a calming effect due to the polarity of the stone.  Polished stones have a female/yin negative polarity and work in a more subtle manner.  Terminated natural points have a masculine positive polarity due to the energy being concentrated in the point. Rough, unpolished stones are free of alteration and the imprint of human workmanship and these work extremely well in clearing auras, channeling, clearing rooms etc.  Not to mention, there are generator crystals whose main purpose is to clear and charge your other crystals/stones.  Also are you intending to run an "Assention/Crystal grid?  You can run a program by setting up a grid that once activated, will run continuously for about a month before you will need to recharge it.

Since you weren't specific in your post as to what uses you would use your prayer beads as a "crystal" for, I would suggest they would be excellent for deepening meditation/prayer, healing and connecting to ones higher self.  Prayer beads are powerful because they are able to raise the vibration of your intent.  Many of the earliest Catholic rosary beads were made of quartz - clear, amethyst, rose, etc. because it helped to focus the intent, improve concentration, and bring clarity to the conscious and unconscious mind.

If you are looking to use your beads for a specific purpose with an expected desired result then probably the old adage, "The right tool for the right job" may well apply.  Although, to be honest, any crystal should be able to work.  It's just my personal opinion that some crystals are better suited for certain applications.  Most importantly, the "best" crystal to use is the one you resonate with the most.  This way, you can never go wrong!

Salvete,

I noticed "the crystals" subject. I have a question about it, but a bit diiferent one. It's about the prayer beads.

I have a prayer beads(about 200 in a row). They are made of pure quartz crystal, about what i read that it symbolizes a universal mind and way of thinking, the magic of the hole universe. Can prayer beads be used as a crystal?
They seem to have something in them. It's not just glass. It's religion, but religion is in a way magical. What do you think of prayer beads as crystal?
