My Aura?

When meditating I often start with my eyes open for a good while. When my eyes get very relaxed after a while I think I see my own aura. Its a very bright rainbow of colors. What does that mean exactly? I only have basic knowledge of what the colors represent like pink/red means love/compassion and yellow for deep thought... That's about it.

Anyhow, just curious. I certainly don't think it would be a bad thing. I consider myself a very positive and balanced invidividual which is why I've been wanting to see what my aura would look like. I can't seem to view auras whenever I want though. It takes a great deal of time of focused relax stare before I see anything.

I will recommend the same book that another person on this board recommended I read: Hands of Light.  Goes in depth on auras and what not.

Have you tried looking at your own aura without meditating first, around your hands & feet, or at yourself in the mirror?  If you look at your hands against a pale background, with slightly blurred vision (easy for me to say since I'm near-sighted) you should start to see your own aura & be able to verify your colours (which of course vary regularly, but a "core" colour should be identifiable).  I find it's easiest to see the aura around my feet in the bathtub.  Looking at your aura in the mirror is a bit more faint, but definitely distinguishable.  Anyway, it never ceases to amaze me!

Why would you need blurred vision? It seems to me that relying on your own semi-blindness isn't the best way of verifying that something is visible.

If I close my eyes and press on them I see colours too.

Touche, as a reference Robert Bruce's treatise on auras is very useful, that's where I got the blurred vision idea from - and quite simply it works.  Best of luck Draege!

Ah, I haven't read that yet. I don't intend to read any other writings until I get NEW working fully since that's apparently the first step.

I don't intend to do any vision-blurring (though it might come to that if I take off my glasses). Well... okay fine, vision blurring is fine for an introduction I suppose, but eventually you should be able to see them with perfect sight so you can be sure it's no illusion.
