Hey everyone! I just woke up and I had two Lucid Dreams last night. I quickly wrote them down in my dream journal just when I woke up. Question though for the dreams. A couple times in my lucid dreams I couldn't do anything. For instance, I saw a tree near by me so I ran full speed and tried to clothesline the tree down but the tree didn't budge. Also, I jumped on top of a building and tried to make an energy ball and blast through the ceiling but when i tried to make it, I could see no energy whatsoever. Maybe it was because I thought the dream was so real since I could feel shifts in wind and everything. Comments on this would really be great. Thanks!

Hi,

Just moved your topic to the Dream forum, as it makes a better fit here.  :)

Lucid dreams are favorites because we can can usually exercise some degree of control within them. I say some degree because there often occurs the inability to perform certain tasks, even though we know we are dreaming. This occurred to me in a lucid dream just last night. I knew I was in the dream state, and wanted to accomplish something within the dream. It became a struggle to do so, however I eventually did so. This type of struggle has occurred before, and I've not been successful, so the "successful" situation last night was a rarity.

My view is that we are sometimes bound in our lucid dreams by certain thought limitations we maintain in the physical. If we can somehow remind ourselves that this may be occurring while lucid, then it may provide just what we need to accomplish what we want in the lucid dream, in my opinion anyway.

Yeap. While in dreams ALL is possible, our mind is limiting us sometimes. If you KNOW that you can, then you can.

For example today morning i had a LD where i wanted to fly. But i couldn't. Then i reminded myself that everything is possible in a dream, and i just "put" myself into flying "position". I nearly hit floor while doing it, but just before i could hit the floor i started to fly

Of course i'm aware of people who think they KNOW that they can jump into TV in dreams and while doing it they just hit their head   But i quess, that while they "know", they still have their doubts.

yea i wonder why we have those limits in our dreams. i mean if we know we are dreaming then we should obviously know we can do anything we want. very strange

You

If you suddenly grew wings, and knew they were there, would you suddenly know how to use them, much less fly?

I've come to realize that some actions require more concentration to perform in lucid dreams.  Sometimes I can just barely think of flying and I take off.  Other times I think to myself, "fly over there" and I stand there like an idiot.  So I have to then concentrate more on the action of flying through the air.

Just a couple a days ago I had a lucid dream and I was trying to get out of the house.  Most of the time I can go right through the wall, but this time I just kept bouncing into it.  So I just went straight up towards the ceiling and tore through the roof.  I guess floating up and tearing the ceiling out with my bare hands seemed more logical to my brain than simply going through the wall.

Today morning i had another lucid dream where i tried to fly, but now i hit the floor (softly) without any success. Finally i needed to start to flap with my hands to be able to start to fly after i jumped into air

The AlphaOmega

I've found that in many lucid dreams a sense of reality retains itself.  Take the tree you tried to closeline for instance.  You knew you were dreaming and thus could close line the tree down, but there was probably a subconcious part of you that remembered that closelining a tree to the ground isn't possible unless it's a very tiny tree.  Conflicting views may have come into play and lack of concentration with the task may have allowed the reality portion of your brain to take over.  In lucid dreams reason and logic don't need to play a part.  You know you can't fly, but in a lucid dream often that's the very first thing that happens.  Perhaps that sense of logic seeped into your dream state and your brain recalled the simple physical fact that "I can't take this tree down".  Just a thought, it's happened to me on a few occasions.

You are probably right with that AlphaOmega. The subconscious mind is still having some say of what I think is or isn't possible in a dream. I wonder how you overcome that subconscious mind? Speaking of flapping Cyrus, I remember a couple nights ago i had a Grand Theft Auto dream and I started to fly but in order to keep flying i had to flap my arms. Just probably natural instance to seeing a bird fly so my subconsious mind probably thought "If you wanna fly, be a bird" lol
