I admit to having used drugs before.  Specifically Cannabis (marijuana).

I was wondering does this impair the ability to project?  If so is it permanent?  Should i just give up trying?

I've read about people that have  used LARGE quantities of hash to go OBE. They just made incredibly strong spacecake, ate it, and meditated on leaving the body.

So next time you just need to smoke MORE ! ;-)

MisterJingo

Drugs do not impair ability to go OBE, as my past is testament to :)
BUT. I know people who take various drugs to achieve OBE, and I feel such a practice is counter-productive. Firstly, there is a complete lack of control. If you don't like the experience, you are stuck with it, or its after effects until you come down.
Secondly, using drugs as a crutch to achieve a foggy uncontrolled OBE is not a long term solution to achieving the OBE state at will. It's effects are not as long lasting either. The discipline I've learnt, and am learning, has radically changed my view of the world (I actually see things differently), with drugs, a different overview usually lasts as long as the high. Perhaps sometimes for a few weeks, but the change is not permanent.

Ok, here I go again. Excuse me for repeating myself, I don't have Alzheimer's. Over the years, I'm 34 now, I've had tons of things happen. Hernia, Undescended Testicle, Tooth extractions, shoulder operation, broken ankle, collarbone, compressed neck, concussions, broken wrist and on and on. Yeah, I'm a high energy guy

Of course during these periods I've had vicodins or percosets. I have always had experiences where I hear buzzing in my ear that increases with pitch and speed, vibration senses in my body, feeling of a tank on my chest, helicopter noises in my head and total paralysis. These feelings also increase with each second to the point where I feel like I'm in a vacuum going 400mph but not actually feeling it? Just the noise and what not. Ok, so I never let it go further, as I thought I was having a stroke or something. It takes every ounce of will power and mental strength to break free of this and it sucked as I did not know what it was. This has happened more than a hundred times easily. Until I discovered this place, I had no idea what was going on. Now that I know what it is, it hasn't happened since. I don't take vicodins to OBE, the above was a side effect and since I've discovered this, even when I take a vicodin, it no longer happens. However it is my personal crusade to have this happen drug free. So in my experience, drugs enhanced my ability to OBE. I believe to OBE you have to be in that peace sleep state as I call it. It's not sleep, it's not awake. It's that AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH  I love sleep so much state where your in a haze. Well, unfortunately the only thing that puts me in that place is any opiate type of drug. Besides that I either fall asleep from exhaustion or I can not sleep at all. That's what I'm working on. To have this happen without drugs is my suppressed desire or  INTENT

Drugs are mind altering and can be dangerous.  Don't do drugs, there are better highs.

The reason some find it easier to oobe while on medication.

The doorway to oobe is lucid dreaming.  The ability to be fully conscious and aware while in the dream state.  To achieve this you must keep your mind awake while your body falls into a state of rest.  The normal wiring for us as humans is to shut the active mind and the body down at the same time.  In order to achieve lucid dreams or oobe, you must re-train your mind not to shut down.  The racing mind is a common effect of medication.  You lie down and try to go to sleep, but your mind won't shut off and you constantly keep thinking about things.  This is a precursor to lucid dreaming.  The down side is that with medication induced mind awareness, you can't control the speed at which your mind functions.  Some  that oobe use a step method in which you allow your body to slowly fall asleep and keep your mind in check on a regular basis.  It is important to be able to stay in control.

Well said MisterJ.  My experience is the same.  We may have used drugs in other lives to get lucid, OBE etc, so I see no reason why we wouldn't have in this life..... in order to progress through the using of drugs as a very Blunt Tool.

OBE is mind altering too, as is our hectic chemically poisoned lives we live in our modern culture.  All of us are far from real healthy living, and it has altered the mind of the race of Man ...  which is dangerous.

It's one way Ezekiel, and not necessarily the most effective for all seeker's growth.  While for some it may be the perfect doorway.

Tayesin, you sound like you've had OBE's using drugs. Which ones do you recommend specifically to get in a good trance state ? I have pretty much tried all of the mainstream drugs, except for heroin and LSD ( their just scary to me :-)  High quantities of THC make me trance easily, but all clarity is gone , too.

Mushrooms perhaps, or Ayahuasca ?

Or perhaps some psychiatric drugs ? Vicodin is a codeine, and very suppressing in nature. What about an antidepressants or anti-psychotics ?

Am i asking to many questions ?

Hi Joerii,
Yes, a few years ago one friend and I would smoke some weed and sit on her veranda to project together.  We had some good journeys, and we learned/remembered a lot.  Even if the Guides were not overly impressed with us.

It was okay because I do not think the power of our Spirit can be subdued by any substance used....  but, I still didn't like doing it that way...  I preferred to smoke weed and have a giggle with friends, etc, and save projection for being straight.

Since those months of potted projections I stopped and did everything straight up, clear and aware...  and I found I actually retained far more awareness when straight, and also found more effective communications once I was clear.

So while pot did nothing to stop us from projecting, it did have it's drawbacks.  And if over-used,  pot clogs us up so we don't hear and see so clearly in the realms, nor in the physical trying to hear messages/communications.

So I don't support drugs and OBE practice even though I made the same mistakes to learn by.  Now I think it best to just do it (projection) and forget the pot.

many thanks guys.  I love informative forums such as this one.  By the way, i have heard of people acheiving OBE with the use of drugs, but i figured, if you can acheive OBE without drugs, whats the use of drugs....

Even if it is easier for you to project while on some drug, from what I have read, it is not worth doing.  Right now, I am doing some re-reading trying to find some direct quotes for you guys.  I'll post em right away if i can find them.  From what I recall though - it is more common to project into the lower astral realms when using drugs.  These lower realms are where the dark, evil, scary, etc... things reside.  This is often where acid users end up when they have a bad trip... seeing the grim reaper, hell... and whatnot.  I do not speak from experience though, I must remind.  So take it for what it's worth.  I realllly am going to try to find some links/quotes for you guys.  The experts explain it much more accurately and in depth.   I'm pretty sure I read it on Robert Bruce's site somewhere and also on the astralvoyage site (or maybe in their books).

Someone had mentioned that they fall asleep without using drugs.  One thing I have found VERY effective is using Robert Bruce's energy raising technique for 5 minutes or so before projection.  In fact, often I have had best results when on as little as 4 or 5 hours of sleep.  If I do some energy raising I never fall asleep if intending on projecting.  Here is a link to the energy raising technique >>>

Read the whole tutorial and practice for a good week or two before judging it.

Wish I understood lucid dreaming. What if you don't dream at all like me? Or perhaps 3-5 dreams a year. What does that mean?

Knucklebrain... don't worry we ALL dream, without exception.. Its just that some of us don't remember many of them.. some people, like yourself, can't remember ANY of them.

You need to train yourself to be able to recall your dreams, start with a dream journal, keep a notepad and pen by your bed.

You are probably thinking, what will that do, but you will find that the very act of doing that will begin the drive of intent for you to start remembering your dreams.. then everytime you wake up, jot anything you remember down, no matter how small, but you must do it right away, dont wait until morning because you will have forgotten again.

Over time you will remember more and more of your dreams.

This is how I did it!

I don't understand what is the value of a dream journal. I mean the dreams I've had make no sense. The last one I had, some black guy was kicking my dad while we walked down the street where I grew up. I picked the guy up by his legs and swung him around like 100mph and threw him into a tree which his torso hit and the agonizing screams of his pain woke me up. I was freaked out big time by this. Does this mean I'm going to kill someone? I hope not. I am strictly against touching anyone for no apparent reason let alone violence. I'm so screwed up from my childhood and hot wired that when my wife taps me on the shoulder I jump. Sucks, I hate it. I still don't understand the dream thing and I don't know if I want to know. My wife had a dream she lost her teeth and and Indian woman at her work that is a clairvoyant/psychic told her someone close was going to die

So if that is what the dream study is all about. I don't want to know. All the dreams I've ever had have been bad. A recurring dream I've had since childhood is being in a cabin in the woods and a grizzly bear pounding the crap out of the house trying to get in. What the hell does that mean? Do I want to know?
