It would probably be possible to pass your memories over to another astral being, which would in turn make you remember your old self.  Or maybe even possible to be so in harmony with your subconscious to teach it that it would remind you itself upon your next life.  That is what hypnotists do to remind people of their past lives, aye?  So why can't you make an agreement with the subconscious to do so in the future.  Isn't that who stores all the information you gathered before, and unlocks it when you are given clues(any information?)?

An interesting idea. It is possible that it was done before by some powerful occultists...
I think that forgetting everything before reincarnating is like a safety switch. An expample: I've heard that Hitler has already reincarnated. If some person would find out thar he/she was him, the there's strong possibility that he/she would commit suicide...

This novel has a character who is first frozen in liquid nitrogen, revived using nanotechnology, and then gets to be the first person to have a complete backup copy of his memories made. It is called "The First Immortal" and the author is James L. Halperin. The most interesting thing about this book and his other book "The Truth Machine" is that the author makes a genuine effort to base the books on current technology and how he really thinks it will be developed. He also goes into how the technological changes will affect the people involved in its use.

For most people, yes, the knowledge of some past lives could be very detrimental to their progression and health, but the sort of person to pursue this venture would probably be the sort who collects information objectively, and only learns from the past, whether good or bad, knowing it cannot be changed(easily).  Of course, being Hitler, you would have a tremendous amount of karma to make up for......  but wouldn't the knowledge of that make you have something to strive for?  A reason to do more good, to counter things in the past?  Well, you should do as much good as you can really, but not everyone believes this, or follows this.

You

Memories alone do not confer immortality, you still need to be around to access them. This assumes you can come back after you die in some way, and are able to seek them out. Interesting, I like it, if it were true it would be neat and make an interesting manga.

Do you believe this would happen through reincarnation, or some kind of magic resurrection?
