Hello Everyone....    :)

I'd like to share a deeply moving experience of mine from about two years ago, on the chance that someone can provide further insight.  I've searched high and low for an answer - still searching - but as of yet it escapes me.

I awake in the middle of a lucid dream into what I'll call "emptiness."  Immediately upon seeing it I jump back.  The best way I can describe it is that it was as if the ego was being ripped apart from me, and as a result it kinda felt like death.  As soon as I had withdrawn back into myself, - still in the lucid dream - I found myself in the presence of a perfected being.  He was a Buddha as best as I can tell, but not one I've ever seen before.  His hairstyle was Mongolian and he wore a beautiful long red silk robe.  He was also smiling and somewhat giggling - ever so kindly.  And at that point he said:

"I did not make that happen to you.  I only suggested that you look and you did.  But there is no need to be afraid.  If you ever want to see it again you can.  And if you'd like me to be with you all you have to do is think of me and I'll be there."

Thereafter I awoke somewhat startled and amazed but nevertheless very pleased.  At the time I was very much into my Buddhist studies, which I'd begun only a few short months earlier.  I was also in what I will call "the in love state" and desiring deeply to take my vows.

Several nights after that experience I once again awoke in the middle of a lucid dream (best way I know how to describe it).  This time there was no vision, however, I was keenly aware that I was in the presence of God.  Recognizing this I asked, "Is my understanding of you correct?" - The answer was "More or less - yes.  But you still have a way to go."  I then asked, "What would you have me know?"  And the answer to that was simply "Double Three." - It made no sense to me at the time, but nevertheless I wanted to say "thank you."  When I tried though I was interrupted and the message back was somewhat strange.  The message back was "I know what you want to say, but you can't exercise your free will in front of me." - I didn't really understand that but nevertheless, that was the end of the lucid dream.

Not too long after that I was blessed with a realization experience - and immediately thereafter headed West, on a pilgrimage it would seem, to take my vows as a Buddhist.  I was finally able to do that at the Garchen Rinpoche Institute in Prescott, Arizona.  (I live in MS)..

Anyway - there have been no other lucid dreams like that since then, save a few that I had immediately after the realization experience.  And as a result, today I find myself in search of deeper meaning of "Double Three."

I have been able to form some ideas, but each of them (although logically founded) seem to fall short.  Whatever it is that "Double Three" means to me it must be something awe inspiring.

Would be very thankful for any feedback.  And cheers!

Many years ago I started to have some similar lucid dreams, being half awake and half asleep, I remember this dreams because my physical body, (when waking up) experienced "dream paralysis". I had to learn to deal with it for a few short month.
About your dream , it looks like an INITIATORY dream, think about "double three" (33) , masonery has 33 degrees of initiation, when you reach the 33th degree, you reach the last vertebrae of the spine of your own "Illumination".
Many social environments are made on this structure (masonery) , of course (by the way) this structures can be good or evil, up to your choice.

..... thank you very much, diadulz...

What a coincidence ! 33 is my birth number 04 04 1978 , my mother's birth number and my dog's birth number 23 01 1998 (happy 7th birthday Conan   :D )

Hey daemon - Hey parker..

Thanks for commenting, and nice to meet you too.  I also forgot to mention something that I think I'll mention here.

Not too long after this dream I happened to be vacationing in Florida and across the street from the  beach house where I was staying there was a psychic.  I'd never been to one before, but for this I decided I might try.  What was so interesting about it though was her response.

She told me to never go to another psychic again OR to even come to see her again. - lol...  The reason she gave was that many who practiced that art were not truly psychic, and they might get me off my path.  Then, she said that she herself was worried that she might get me off the path.  And then after that she just suggested that I continue doing what I was doing.

Anyway - a lot of things did unfold after that.  But nevertheless the specific meaning of "Double Three"  (which I never felt at liberty to assume meant 33 but realized it certainly could) has always remained on my mind.

Today, I feel like I got a little closer - so again, thanks, everyone!  I just really believe at some point in the future I'm going to have some deep personal understanding of what that means.

Until then, I guess I'll just keep on walkin..

Numbers always have a relationship to colors. paker7 is wearing a Red mask so I'm going to ask him. Which one you give to master number 33 ?

Hi JK,
More ideas...

Double three is a combination, 2 and 3 ... sum of 5.

There are many combinations!

Double three as a general statement:

Duality with 3 comes to mind. Two different things. At odds

Geometry

Forming a structure with dimension, building (4 is material or manifest)

2 has polarity, a line, separation, division, divide

3 is a triad (3 sides like a pyramid)

5 often associated with the human form

5 also associated with the hand

To Double three (a request or a demand) is 6

To double three could mean 3 times 3 = 9

J.K.

Thanks again, everybody..   :)

And hello to you, wisp.  Nice to meet ya!

Thanks JK, same here.  :D

Hehehe  Well make your Double three (6)  three times (666). Probably you met someone else in your dream.

This could sound off-topic but looks like a good exercise.  Anyway, I was "astral traveling" through the Internet  8) and found this:

""We describe what we believe is a new phase-shifting algorithm called a Double Three-step algorithm developed to reduce the measurement error of a three-dimensional shape-measurement system, which is based on digital fringe-projection and phase-shifting techniques. After comparing the performance of different existing phase-shifting algorithms, we present the new double three-step algorithm based on the error analysis of the standard three-step algorithm. In this algorithm, three-step phase shifting is done twice with an initial phase offset of 60 ° between them, and the two obtained phase maps are averaged to generate the final phase map. Both theoretical and experimental results showed that this new algorithm worked well in significantly reducing the measurement error"".

Greetings

Hiya J,

Quote"What would you have me know?"
from J.K.
QuoteThe letter gimel relates to "kindness and nourishment". In particular the outflowing of God's kindness and nourishment. The polarities of man and woman (the letter bet, or 2) are resolved in the child (the gimel, 3), who is raised through kindness (the natural feeling associated with caring for children) and nourishment (the natural act associated associated with the same activity. Maharal (a rabbi in the Middle Ages) explains that the Oneness of aleph denotes ultimate perfection that exists only with God and the duality of bet implies diversity and heterogeneity, multiplicity and incompatibility. The gimel signifies the capacity to neutralize the dissimilarity of two contrasting forces and unite them into a lasting and more wholesome unit.
from "David" quoted by J.K.
QuoteIt is interesting that Gimel which corresponds to the High Priestess card in the Tarot also corresponds to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life path to Kether (The Crown) from Tipareth (Beauty) as opposed to either Binah (Understanding) or Chokmah (Wisdom)
from some old notes.
I always vowed that I wouldn't shy away from knowledge be it external or internal in nature as to do so would impede my journey and I've always believed in confronting everything that was placed in my path but my world was turned completely upside-down one day when my wife said she wanted us to have a baby. I was so scared at first and for quite a while I had to do some soul-searching to get to the root cause of it (which isn't relevant here) but during this time I was reminded of a man I used to know; a very learned man with whom I had no end of fierce theological debates but with whom I shared a close spiritual bond. I remembered him telling me one day that he would never be an elder in his congregation because he was not a father and that only a father knew the love that was required to hold such a position. His congregation's leadership was male-based, something I do not subscribe to personally but his comment struck a chord with me.
Be that as it may, since my son was born I have found a love within me that I never knew I possessed; a love not only for my son but for the whole world.
I don't know your personal circumstances and it is none of my business anyway. You may already be a fantastic dad with ten wonderful kids in which case this posting would be largely redundant but either way please don't think I am inferring anything by this posting; it is just something I felt compelled to write after reading about your dream. I hope it is of some use.

Good luck with your search.

J.K.

Hey ya, Scarecrow..

Thanks for the post.  And yes, that is something else to think about.

I'm 41 - single - and have never had children, although that's not a deliberate choice and not a result of having not married.  In fact, I've married 3 times.

First wife didn't want em - second marriage was really a hiccup (very short) - and the third wife couldn't have them.

Having not had any I'm sure there is a love I don't fully understand.  I believe my friends when they tell me how it changes them, but I'm aware that I can only imagine how they feel.  I'm not realizing that personally.

If God wanted children for me I'd surely be open to it.  But with three marriages (and three divorces) behind me now plus being 41 I've just grown accustomed to the idea that children weren't supposed to be in the cards for me this time around.

Who knows though? - Game's not over yet..

I see. As I said before it was just something that came to mind on reading your dream. I don't believe that everyone needs to have kids to fulfill their potential at all.

So the search goes on.  :)  I'd like to see your face when it does finally reveal itself to you. That'd be a picture - lol

I'd like to know more about what you went through to take your vows as a Buddhist (either in this thread or elsewhere). Also, you say you're from MS. I'm in the UK and not certain about your US codes. Is that Mass or Miss?

:)

J.K.

Hey Scarecrow..   :)

I'm in Mississippi.   I was born here - spent about 15 years in Florida after school - and then returned a few years ago.  However, I don't think I'll stay here too long.  I'm not sure where I'll go next, but the mountains of North Carolina are kinda on my m ind.

Also, as per the vows  I'll be glad to tell you whatever you'd like to know.  You could say it was the culmination of a pilgrimage I took after receiving a realization experience.  The Garchen Institute and the Arizona desert actually wound up being my Meca.
