i lean towards hypnogogic imagery actually being the astral.  a part of it.  

if that cotton candy deal helps you get to where you need to be then use it.  maybe it's a symbol u can use to help you out.  that's what they are for.

maybe yer right .. I do get a unique piece of imagery that sorta helps me focus on something when I do the breathing .. once it was the candy ,  then the radar blip thing with spikes, then somethign else I forgot..    Wouldnt focusing on that make me drift off to sleep though ?

sleep as you are referring to it comes across as your mind sleeping.  your mind sleeping and body sleeping are different.  if you could actually focus your mind on one thing and keep it there while you laid down to sleep,  then you would most likely end up in a lucid dream w/out a break in consciousness.  from experience it's extremely difficult to keep your mind focused like that.  if you could focus on a scene though like you said it may be easier to ignore your body and lose track of it.  sometimes i'll go through a video game in my head.  one that i've already beaten and know exactly where all the guys are and stuff.  it's easy to lose track of yourself and keep your mind from drifting that way.

hmm thats a good idea but how will you know when its time to leave  your obdy ? Will the vibrations just HIT you ? Or will you feel sensations half way through the game so to speak ? ..  When will I know when to try to do a technique like "rope" or Yo-Yo to leave the body ?    Sorry for the flurry of questions =P I hope this helps everyone.

When you are scarred Sh## less. When you feel a presence and or something is wrong, not working normally. You'll know. It isn't too nebulous.

have you read ad or the treatises on here yet?  i'm nto trying to deflect your questions but you may be able to find some things out there.  if you can reach any level of trance, try an exit tek.  if it doesnt work then find out why.,or post your experience on here.   but as easy as it is to just post your questions on here and have some suggestoins thrown at you, the most valued information about your exerience that can help you the most is gonna come from you.  really take the time to find out exactly what is going on.  the longer you take w/ a  problem the stronger you are going to feel about conquering it when you do.   as in you'll know how to deal w/ it when it arises again if so.

I've read the Treatrise on OOBE fully , I do try to figure it out for myself but most of my answers come from you guys and I greatly appreciate it.  I'm sorry if I'm asking really stupid questions but I think someone out there is having the same problems as I do and may get answers from my questions.  But do believe me when I say I try to project a lot .. I think thats the only questions that I havel eft to ask really .. is WHEN should to project hehe .. I have had the scared senseless feeling once when I woke up in the middle of the night but I woke myself out of it as soon as it happened cause I was indeed scared.    As far as  knowing when to do an exit technique .. well .. I can get some trance sensations but I cant seem to get my astral body pulled out .. I'm still workin on it though , I just wanted to make sure I am trying to do the techniques at the right time really.

i would suggest reading the treatise again.  i've read ad a few times and it seems it has been helpful everytime.  don't hesitate to ask any questions.  i was just saying the info you get is valuable too.  i'll try and say something wise here like the only stupid question is the one not asked.  have you read where robert describes how he's sat down before and immediately went into the rope tek?  it can produce some dramatic results.  try that and see what happens.  it might give you a better idea on whats stopping you.  remember that this is  natural occurence.  don't get caught up in the exacts of what you are reading.  they are just meant to show you a few different ways to do something that you do all of the timea lttle bit different.

Zarklon.....your right....I am following your questions and the answers that follow very closely.  I've never gotten the vibrations yet....and I'm going to try that breathing technique.  I'm envious that you got the vibrations.  :-)  Your almost there dude!  Fredhedd thanks for the answers.

Zarklon.....you just breath in and out and on the end of each in breath you count one second and the same for the out breath?  Just keep counting each breath and if you lost count start at zero?  Sounds very simple right?  Its usually the simple excrement that works and not the hard excrement.  I'll try it out right now.

Hey zarklon ......I just did the breathing technique.  And nothing happened....no vibrations no hypnagogic imagery....nothing.   I only counted to 100 though....I didn't feel like going longer.   How long did you do this for?

I feel like I've gone deeper than that on my own.

The fact that you are having the visulaization of your breath, i think is a good thing. When you talk about each breath registering as a blip, i get the same kinda of thing. But heres i use it.
When im building my energy for a exit, i start by raising my aura by this method.
1. Close your eyes and start deep breathing
2. Try to envision as a curved arc across a plane. Each succesion of breath raises with inhale, lowers with exhale, this arc.
3. With each exhale, only lower the arc a little so it is above the last point it was at with each breath.
I find this helps with how much energy i raise, and in turn, how long each projection is.

I think you got the idea Arie .. you only count after each INHALE and after you've said "IN" mentally ... heres a simple description of the simple process


1) Breathin  ... Say IN ... count 1 ....
2) Breath out... say out ...
3)Repeat --- Breath in.... Say IN ... count 2 ....
4)Breath out ... say out ...


So only count on the inhales
and if you can , imagine breathign in a white cloud of energy and breathing out the stress and tenseness of your body with each exhale in a toxic green lookin cloud.. get more relaxed and limp with each exhale ..

Ever since I got the vibrations from doing the breath awareness technique listed here ...http://www.kryten.demon.co.uk/astral/meditation.htm .      I've been trying ever since to get the same reactions.  Well , the first time I got the vibrations doing this technique was a few nights ago and it caught me by surprise .. after breathing and counting for a while , I got this very clear mental movie pop in my head .. it was a friend of mine sitting at a table with a piece of colored candy in front of him .. we were discussing the flavor of it ... then it changed colors .. we then discussed what THAT color taste like .. ( red - strawberry or cherry ,  blue - blueberry ,  etc .... ) and when I got to black , I said .. hmm .. Liquorish ?(sp?)    And the movie was interrupted by a vibration in my throat .. I knew what this was and I ignored it to try not to get too exctited .. the more I thought about it, the more it went away so I continued to think about the mental movie .. then I decided to test it .. I said to myself " hmm if thats the vibrations .. let me try to move and see if I'm paralysed "   well indeed I couldnt move at all and that broke it cause  shortly after ,I was jst lieing there thinking about how cool it was !   When I rolled over to try it from a different position , I instantly thought of the colored candy thing and started to feel quite wierd within seconds .. kinda like I was being pulled out of my body by my last rib on the right side .. it kinda tickled .. then when I broke out of it .. I felt that spot and my dog had crawled up right there and crapped out for the night hehehe.    This might help someone so I decided t put it in some detail .. but  heres a question I have ..      I've noticed that from doing this breath awareness technique , I always get some kind of mental image that keeps me awake and it gets clearer and clearer but why is it happening ? Is it hypnogig imagery ?  A little while ago , I got like .. a blip screen .. where my inhales made the spike go up , and an exhale made another spike go down .. it was wierd but very clear to me .. I noticed my body starting to numb , feet first .  Can anyone tell me what they think about all this ?        I tried breath awareness to day jst a few minutes ago but I didnt get the vibrations .. it took about 40 minutes to get the dizzy feelings like Iwas just about on the verge of sleep.
