Does Magic cause Negative Karma?

I'm just curious about this.

I have been using runes to purge myself of negative entities.

I don't believe this causes negative Karma, but just thought I'd see how people felt about it.

I know it can cause karma if you do reckless things with it like cast curses on people and things like that, but let's say the person in question is only using magic to purge himself of evil and improve himself and not to win the lottery or something silly like that.

So does using Magic give you karma or not?

Karma is not what people think. I've read that problems are caused by regative energy staying in person's energy field after doing black magick. With proper cleaning of aura I was able to remove all these negative energies, and "karma" just disappeared. Of course if you believe in such "spiritual force punishing you for doing magick", then you will experience it in real world too.
I also think that it was invented by all those self neglecting people, who are trying to achieve "selflessness" and "setvice to others" BS.
MEAT=MURDER.

Karma in my mind is simply the law of cause and effect. Do something that hurts someone and it will come back to you. This isn't nearly as spiritual as many people think. But since that is not the topic of this post, I won't go into my opinions on this topic.

Magic in and of itself is neither good nor evil (I don't believe in good or evil, but I won't get into that either   ), it simply IS. What can be classified as good or evil (if you think in this way) is the things you are USING magic for.

Rydel,

It sounds like we are 100% in agreement! The natural laws of our universe assure that what we send out, we get back, be that good or evil. There's nothing "supernatural" about it!

narfellus

I'll agree with that too. Magic is neither good nor evil, and in higher spheres of universal consciousness (from what i understand) there is no concept of good or evil. There simply IS.

How we humans use magic also abides by the laws of cause and effect. If you use it to help and heal, you will draw health and healing to yourself. Harming another will likewise cause you to experience the harm you inflicted, not as punishment, but just adhering to universal law.
If but we knew the power of our thoughts we would guard them more closely.

Rydel

Sometimes it is even simpler. For instance, you steal something, you are eventually caught, and spend time in jail. Cause and effect. Same way magic works. You harm someone, you are most likely going to have to deal with some after effects. A friend of yours might have liked that person, and then be very sad, causing you pain.

Whenever you are using magic that leans towards the darker side ALWAYS find in advance what could be potential effects. This way you will see whether or not it is worth the pain.

I find it very amusing that George Lucas's Star Wars idea of the Force is spot on with the concept of a Universal Mind. It permeates everything, IS everything, and Jedi are skilled initiates who know who to wield it. The Force is the same force for Dark Jedi, they just use it to harm people, and there is always a detrimental side effect (look at the Emperor, he looks pretty rough).
If but we knew the power of our thoughts we would guard them more closely.

Star Wars is a pretty spiritual trip.

But if one used magick for.. 'bad' or negative causes, woudn't karma effect you? I dont see why karma would take a break just for magick :P
but i suppose what you've been saying is that it will if you use it for negative causes.

Narfellus- excellent posts here. I've been sort of tipsy turvy on that for a while, but u just confirmed it for me.
I think too many ppl think that karma is used as punishment and reward. Like you said, it just, simply 'IS'
Save your tears for the day when our pain is far behind on your feet come with me we are soldiers stand or die
Save your fears take your place save them for the judgement day fast and free follow me time to make the sacrifice we rise or fall

Karma really is one of those overused terms that seems to have taken on a "lifeforce" of it's own. Once upon a time, you had to be careful or the boogeyman would get you. Now it seems it's got a name - Karma.

Karma is not some universal police force, or some cosmic judge and jury. It is the judgement a soul makes upon itsself for its own actions. If a soul has judged that it has acted poorly in one lifetime, it will then seek to repay the debt in another. There's no universal coersion to do so.

What we often refer to as karma is typically the outworking of one of two universal laws. As Rydel said  - cause and effect, or it could be exchange of energies. The first really needs no explanation. The second can be described as what you give out is what you get back. You give out negative energies, that's what you will draw back to you.

As to the use of magic, like anything else, we have completely free will here. Sure there are things like the wiccan "three fold law" and other similar concepts, but basically we are free to do whatever we like as long as we are prepaired to have it come back to us.

Blessings,
James.

Black magic?  Hmmmm..   If you are a religious person and you pray for your own health and the health of others that is a good thing, if you pray for revenge or unearned wealth or punishment for some one then that is black magic.

If something is encouraging and positive and overall nutrative and nurturing it is probably good magic.

heh,so what will happen to people like hitler, mussolini, staline etc?
