Personality Disorder Test

It is a nice test. Short and to the point. Everything was low but three things when I took the test, and my only complaint was that on reading the "disorders" they really didn't seem like negative things.

schizoid: high

schizotypal: moderate
obsessive-compulsive: moderate

As you can see, two of my disorders are only in moderation.

Anyone who is really into psychic phenomenon or who considers himself/herself psychic in anyway, or engages in paranormal activity, should come up as at LEAST a moderate schizotypal. We should start a club!

the schizoid is almost perfectly correct, and so is the shizotypal, and the obsessive compulsive is something i am definately not.

it is interesting to know what paranoia is though, i always thought it was something else.

Interesting... I scored low in all except for a high in schizotypical and moderate in schizoid. Wow, i think a couple of these are semi-accurate. i don't have a disorder, i just tend to act in a way that others PERCEIVE me to be. Thats why i don't beleive in shrinks, alot of their perception of train of thought is BS. An example is stating that when a child is constantly being distant and refusing to volunteer information daily that the child is either self centered or paranoid. Not true. I hate hearing PROFESSIONAL opinions from people who beleive they can determine how other people think. I can think that you are evil because you have a red hair tie! Nobody can determine that by listening to me. By the way, i don't really

That depends - how sane do you feel?

I think Psi's got a good point. Modern psychology seems to determine a persons level of mental health based on a set of guidelines. True there are those who go so far away from those guidelines it becomes obvious they are psychotic, or paranoid, or whatever.

But what is their basis for comparison? Isn't "normal" a highly subjective state? Yes we do all think differently. But lets face it, a mental health "professional" isn't going to make any money out of people by telling them that they're perfectly normal or sane.

Ahahahahaha! In 1977 the military retired me permanently for a "stabalized schizophrenic reaction". In 1984, the Dept. of Defense's security clearance investigators wouldn't give me even a "Secret" clearance, (though my fellow workers and friends were baffled and thought I was just fine), and said I was "paranoid schizophrenic in remission". Ahahahahaha! (I should have never told that shrink I was stll "virgin"......I'm not any more, and look how much better I am!) Ahahahahaha! Sorry for the delay in answering Jouni - just moved house.

The Terry Pratchett quote was referring to Foul Ole Ron. Can't remember exactly which book it was from - maybe Guards Guards. Somewhere early in the series.

I love his work - I can read it over & over. The funny part is there have been so many posts on this site that I could easily apply a number quotes from his books to. Just his way of looking at things.

It wasn't Guards. I just recently reread it so I'm pretty sure. Somehow I think it was from the one where Death went miising (again) and camped with the beggars. Hmm I'll flip through the books. Gee an excuse I needed!

I found the quote somewhere on the web recently and realise I haven't got it exactly right, but the jist of it is there.

I too wonder about Pratchett's background. He seem to have an astounding grasp on some of the most complex concepts to do with physics, astrophysics, cosmology, etc. You can't make fun of an advanced concept and twist it around unless you understand it very well. Many authors have good general knowledge, but his is amazing!

I'd better get off the topic of Diskworld books at this time or I might be tempted to go on about them indefinitely. Think I'm going to keep a few of his quotes handy though.

I'm "highly schizoid" and "highly schizotypal." What a relief. Everything else was pretty moderate and normal ~ now that worries me. The cultural bias in this test is immediately apparent. "They genuinely prefer to be alone and do not secretly wish for popularity. They tend to seek jobs that require little social contact." I'm not sure I see what's wrong with this. Tying oneself up in "the world" is good thing???

Us "schizoidal" types (bless us!) have "odd forms of thinking and perceiving . . ." and "[t]heir speech is often over elaborate and difficult to follow." I'm a published poet and I must admit I've heard that comment many times.

Now those moderate and normal items ~ gotta work on them!! Thanks for the test. I love it. It reminds me that giving a wide berth to the medical/psychiatric estab. is a good thing. (Oops! getting paranoid there, no?)
