Anyone here ever try the ganzfield goggles?

I purchased these goggles sometime back and actually had some interesting results.

Even though they don't make the goggles anymore, but thought I would ask the AP forum.

Dude, those look like woodshop glasses with and opaque lens!

The only way those things would make you see stuff is if you just ate a bunch of shrooms!

But I digress, I have never personally tried them.  Although, they look like a poor man's mind machine.

Actaully Hans,

I've worn them on occassion and it causes a "Ganzfield Effect" which from my studies and experiments puts you deffinitely into a trance. Its called sensory deprivation. I've had many projections with the goggles and it does work. Remember the movie "Altered States" - something like that but not to where it alters you physically.

Never a less, its something that I thought posting to this group might help others that do have problems projecting.

Last night when I wrote this I edited my post at the bottom, but my laptop ran out of batteries before i could post it.

So, today I was going to finish this post, but forgot.

I wrote that I was slap happy and just messing around, and that no one should take my opinion seriously because I have never personally tried them.

Just kidding bro,

The Ganzfeld effect is pretty well known. I think it was first discovered when Arctic explorers started hallucinating (white sky, white earth).

I've tried it before, but for me at least ... <simpsons>The goggles do nothing!</simpsons>

All I really got was a lot of comments from my roommate saying how dumb I was for even spending money on such an infernal contraption (and I made my own).

It's kind of like sticking your head in the sand. It is kinda nice in a xenophobic way, but I've never approached the hallucinations others report.

Mactombs,

Hey there's nothing wrong with sticking your head in sand... I'm sure the results would be staggering...:)

Anyways, I don't practice the goggles all the time but from when I did it surely had a interesting effect. You are correct about the explorers and how this was discovered - white snow, white sky = hypnotized sensory deprivation.

The goggles that I bought 10years ago were like around $20. something or less. I still have them next to my bed and it can be used for other things besides astral projection..:)

I have tried out this effect. I cut a ping pong ball in half and coloured the insides and placed them over my eyes (your eyebrows and cheeks will hold them there) I tried 3 colours out yellow, blue, pink. I then meditated with my eyes open of course. I found that they did alter your states of mind but in a haphazard kind of way; not a useful way such as taking you directly to F12 for erample. I moved on.

astralic

Ok, but in what way can you induce an OBE with Ganzfeld-goggles?

David Warner

Astralic,

Yes, I've been known to at times induce lucid dreams or a full blown out astral projection with vibrations.. ya know - all that good stuff!!

Lately, I've used the goggles and just find myself falling to sleep. From what I can it would be a good sleeping aid, or if you're trying to project and afraid of projecting into the dark. Leave the bedroom light on, but use the goggles. Therefore, once you're out you can see the bedroom and everything around you.

It would be weird seeing your physical with the goggles on..:)

But how can you project with your eyes open??

David Warner

its more a less when you are looking at the white it hypnotizes you into hallunications which then brings on the trance state. your eyes will get tired of looking at pure white, and you will find yourself in and out of trance while trying to focus on the white.

interesting technique thats for sure.

So your will close automatically when you enter a trance, right?

David Warner

Paint1,

I tried cutting corners and cutting out the ping pong balls and placing them over my eyes. Not a good way to experiment if you really want some serious problems poking your eyes out - hence why I purchased the goggles.

Unfortunately, they do not make no more of this product because the company folded. I spoke with the owner where I purchased them from and that's what he had said.

But I'm sure with the right materials it wouldn't be too tough to make.
