Hey i bought Astral Dynamics, about a month or two ago, and i always read it about once a week, the book is 500 something pages, and theres so many exercises that it overwhelms me and i just put the book back in its shelf.

If you've read the book and A.Ped how long did you do the exercises and took you to read the book?

Did you guys have a time of day just to do the NEW exercises and others?

Robert Bruce has his own forums (at astraldynamics.com), so you may also want to go there and ask this question.

FYI, there is also a book called "Mastering Astral Projection" by Robert Bruce and Brian Mercer that goes through and sets out a schedule for the exercises found in AD.

If you have the extra cash it may be worth it for you.

Goldsplinter,

Don't forget to read other authors as well like Frank, Adrian, Monroe, Castaneda, Fox to really shape your views on how their project. Read as much that you can and what you feel comfortable with exercise it into projection. Its like trial and error until you get it right!

I've got Astral Dynamics and I find it too hard to get through as well!
I am confused about the nature of obes etc, there seem to be a lot of grey areas.  yet I have pretty much satisfied myself with my ability to leave my body using other methods eg those from william buhlman's books, although i feel there is much more to it than what I have experienced.
would I have much to gain from working through astral dynamics, or should i keep working on the techniques I'm using?
hope you can help from

007,

Yes, I do feel the same way about astral dynamics about being dry and boring in some sections. Mostly, I've been finding this in the new energy ways and projection exit sections. Maybe, its because that I've read so much on astral projection, been executing oobe's for many years that this is old news.

I do find however some of the sections helpful and can shed some light on some of the mysteries, but overall its a review. This book would mostly be targeted to the first time projector (IMO).

If I were you, stick with the format that works best for you and develop it to a science. This will be the only way that will yield results of quality and beautiful experiences to come.

I've seen William Buhlmans site but never read any of his material. From the looks of it that it could be interesting, but again I think it just might be a review of what I already know.

Hope this helps..

Hi there Goldsplinter,

When reading "astral dynamics", try skipping the exercise section of the book, & read the rest of it.

Once you've finished, go back and do the exercises. You'll have to practise daily, & really want to acheive your goal. It seems that a lot of people, when faced with what looks like a big task, fall by the wayside....try breaking it up into small tasks.

Kind regards,
Mark

I personally found Astral Dynamics to be overkill for the beginner going for that first OBE.

I read "Adventures Beyond the Body" by William Buhlman and tried the techniques in there for about three weeks before having that first OBE.  But when I did, the technique that seemed to work for me wasn't even one from the book, but rather one I read on the web.

I think what's more important than which book you read or even what technique you use, is that you immerse yourself in OBE/AP stuff.  Think, read and ponder it day and night.  Read stuff daily, write and speak affirmations, ponder it some more.  Whatever it takes to soften up that psychological resistance the conscious mind seems to have to projecting.  Additionally, pick a routine for relaxing and then getting into a trance state, and do the routine regularly.  That's what worked for me.

After you've succeeded in projecting once or twice, then the more detailed information in Astral Dynamics might prove helpful and interesting (although I've never found it particularly compelling).

Goldsplinter,

I agree with RJA and the other posters on this. I'm listing below what has been helping me achieve oobe's. Everyone is different but it all comes down to is mental work, desire and intent.

This might help you and then again might not...:)

The last 3 months(4/27 - 7/25) - I've been keeping track of my experiences and I believe this helps the overall picture. With keeping a journal what I eat during the day, time tracking of the experience, along with journal notes.

So far to date here's the breakdown

Conscious Astral Projection - 19
False Awakening - 4
Lucid Dream To Astral Projection - 2

I'm constantly mentally thinking of astral projection, reading, listening to the subliminal tape, talking with people on-line here at the astral pulse, mental affirmations to myself during the day, reciting, crystals, and acting out my intent, setting up experiments and with goals in mind.

This is what it takes for me to be successful at projections. Its a lot of mental/physical work and its paying off.

Hopefully, you can use this information to further your own studies and practices.

I think I might commit myself to working through Astral Dynamics because I also want to benefit from the NEW exercises for a health problem.  I've had some dreamy mystical type experiences trying other techniques but they say when you oobe you KNOW that you have so I want to try RB's book.  I notice more & more about phasing on this forum, I will also look into that.
By the way, as well as Mastering Astral Projection there is, or used to be, a spreadsheet available which gave you a 90 day program for working through Astral Dynamics.

You know, I have read several books on the subject of AP. I always think that there might be a "better" or "more useful" book out there on the topic. Every time I purchase a new book I am sorely disappointed. I have been having OBE's for as long as I can remember and seek to find someone who has shared the same types of experiences. By keeping a journal I find that no two experiences are alike. Keep a journal and look over it periodically. Soon you will see familiar themes and symbols that are designed for you and you alone; according to where you are at in life. Like in Catholic confessions - why do you need a physical human mediator when the Source is right there in front of you? Seems like there is a battle of the books going on in these forums lately which boils down to the almighty dollar. I say, save your money and practice on your own. You will achieve huge success if you are consistent and have no fear. Why take someone else's word for it when you are perfectly capable of doing this your own? Hmmm, maybe I should write a book!

The thing that always sends me looking for better techniques is, I seem to remember reading somewhere that when you leave your body you will have no doubts about the experience being a genuine oobe.  I nearly always doubt it, though, and wonder whether I had a genuine oobe or simply a lucid vision.  Do most others have similar doubts?

007,

I think if you start working with validation of your experiences it will start to prove genuine oobe. I've been able to validate cards and a precognition oobe.
