Weighty feeling & coldness while meditating??????

Two things:
1. After about 45 minutes and deep into the "zone", this feeling of being very heavy came upon me. Felt like my body instantly gained like 100 lbs. Weird. What might this be attributed to?
2. While coming out of the deep meditation (still sitting there silently, eyes closed, etc) I had this very cold feeling (like liquid) start at the bottom of my skull, and slowly make its way down to my neck and then spread out into my shoulders and then was gone. What was that?
Again, I'm fairly new to all of this and thanks to the input I've gotten on this board I feel real progress and understanding is being made, so thanks!!!

Two answers:

1) That "weighty" feeling was you finding your inner self and realizing for the first time the weight your physical body exerts on your soul.

2)That fluid feeling was intense energy sensations.  They start off strong, and wane when your finer bodies become more in tuned with what you are doing.  Or to put it as many others here do, you are flexing your energy body's muscles, so you feel it really well.  Once those muscles become more toned, you won't have such an intense rush from those exercises.

Thanks bloodsong...you've been a great help!
It's wierd, when I'm in such a deep state and I'm seeing dark purple colors and I have the huge wieghty feeling and I'm numb all over, I feel like I'm on the "edge" of something.....that if I just go that extra centimeter something "else" will happen. I don't know what, but I feel like I'm at some figurative door or something, and I get right at that point and I don't get scared, per se, just I guess apprehensive and excited all at once, and then I lose the feeling. Wonder what lies ahead for me past that fine point!??
Thanks again!

What kind of symbol system do you use?  Purple/violet in many systems, is a color of high spiritual importance.  That is part of why it became associated with royalty, the monarch was supposed to be the direct line to God, and thus be wise enough to lead the people.

The "extra centimeter" you need to go to may be one of two things.  Either careful examination of yourself to find your next step in your evolution, or to let go a little more completely so the information can come to you freely.  Either way, you need to run what you are experiencing through what you believe to find the truth as it pertains to you.

Thanks again.
Symbol system? What is that? I guess since I don't know that means I don't use one? As a beginner I am just focusing on my breathing, and when I get to that so-called zone I start a mantra inside my head, usually something short from the Christian Bible. It seems to work wonders. Would that be a symbol? Clue me in.

Another way to look at the "symbol system" is to look at your religion, or philosophy if you don't have a religion.  If a person is religious, their symbol system is largely, but not wholly dictated by their religion.   If you are not religious, your symbol system is dictated by the way you see things, relate to them, and base your decisions, i.e., your philosophy.

A strong look at what you believe is needed to determine what different visions mean to you.  Color is one way we relate to the world, but it is largely symbolic because of that.  Think of where you see the colors that you see in meditation and everything else you see in meditation, in relation to where you see those things in waking life, then relate that to how you feel about those things and situations those things put you in.  That will help you determine your own personal symbol system.

It does take time, and when I say that, I mean years.  Not only that, but our symbols change their meaning over time in our lives, so we have to constantly redefine them.  An example of what I mean by this is if a two year old dreams of a lollipop, that is a great thing, and could represent treasure of great value, now thirty years later, let's say this same person has developed sever periodontal disorders that lead to sensitivity to sugar that causes pain when it enters the mouth, if that same person, in this situation dreams of a lollipop in their mouth, do you think it still symbolizes treasure?

Defining your personal symbol system is a lifetime job.  Don't rush it, and don't believe any books on the subject. They are YOUR symbols, no one else's.

Thanks again and again.
I think I understand the basic concept of symbols now.
Is not part of the message then (being that everyone has to find their own truth) that truth is relative?
I think most "religious" people would say that truth is absolute because truth cannot contradict itself.
Then again, I guess that is the big question everyone is in search of.

Here's my take on Truth, take from it what you will.

Truth is not subjective.  It is definite.  The Ultimate Truth is God.  The thing is that we are so far from that ultimate truth that we only catch the tiniest glimpses of it.  Our "reality" is what is subjective.  We all are so far from the incomprehensible Perfect Truth that God embodies that we cannot comprehend most of the glimpses that we get.  Therefore it seems that Truth is subjective from one person to another.  Why?  Because we all embody a small part of God and we all must relate to this world through that part we were given.  We should not deny our Piece, and we should hold in contempt those who presume to deny the Piece given unto others is false simply because it does not conform perfectly to their piece.  We are all part of the tapestry that composes Truth, we need to stop seeing the world as ending with ourselves to be able to get a better glimpse of what that truth is, and even then, I feel we will only see a small portion of it!
