This site is soundly christ-based, though it is from a different book, and contains numerical reference to things I know to be those of the followers of satan, or Priests of LeVey, the Church of Satan. I know from history, though it may have been rewritten, that mohammed loved to slay the innocent, massacring as many as possible if they did not bow to Islam. He loved blood and loved the slaughter. This... confuses me. How can a prophet hate life? Please explain this behavior and how it pertains to God being longsuffering, unconditionally loving and immesurably forgiving, while maintaining an iron fisted set of rules? A gentle balance is what I see and mohammed does not fit into it. If I have been lied to by historians, please, I beg you for the sake of me not stumbling those of lesser vigil, correct me in a constructive and loving way. Sometimes to love someone, you need to kick their butt a bit to teach them something(it's called "tough love"), but never never murder.
So much changes, so much is the same. So much to learn, so much to know. So litte time, don't waste a moment. Life is short. Way too short. =)

Well I'm no Muslim but I do know that your statements are untrue and ignorant; I would like to see where any (non-fundi christian) historian will say that Mohammed 'loved blood and slaughter'. Also, while we're on the subject of questionable things in 'sacred texts', the Old Testament and Talmud is full of mass genocide by god against people who he doesnt happen to like, which is hardly nice, although believers have more recently tried to palm us off by coming up with the wonderful excuse 'oh God didn't do all that, that was an error by the writers'... however these same people will also go on about how the bible is literal truth; you can't have your cake and eat it.

The Jesus described in the NT also does some questionable things in my view, even advocating people throw away all their possessions and even leave their families to follow him, which is the act of a true fanatic.

All so called 'holy texts' have their good points and their minuses; it's not fair to pick on Islam's as if it's the only one. These works were written by men, lots of men over a period of time, and it is natural that we get good bits and bad bits depending on who was responsible.

Indigo,

There are many ways in which people can be brought together for a common cause. e.g., a sports team, a country club, a school class, a political party.

Certain ideas about a supreme deity/"God" is just another one of those, i.e. religion.  Religion can be good, but religion can also be very dangerous.

Christianity and Islam both have blood on their hands, and have for many centuries.

Rarely ever does the 'real reason' behind the fighting actually involve 'God' per se, but rather, 'politcal power', e.g., the rise and fall of Empires, or 'for real estate' i.e., Jerusalem and the Holy Land during the Crusades, or 'oppression and indoctrination' e.g., Christianity and the Inquisition, and even today over lifestyle, economics, oil, whatever all the reasons actually are.

The people behind these slaughters are not theologians, or philosophers, nor are they neccessarily even heart-felt religious believers, they are people who want/need power and will do whatever is necessary to get it. When you make certain claims to and about GOD, sheep will usually follow the shepherd of their choice.  More often than not, however, the shepherd could care less about the religion itself, or even the people that were used to achieve the political goal.

Today's public 'elections' have been the most telling when it comes to illustrating how religion can be used as a political mobilizing force.  In fact, now that I think about it, the Muslims are at least being a bit more honest in their elections---they admit that they are divided over religious ideas by saying that it is between the Sunnis, the Bathists, the Kurds, etc.

The past two elections in the US were not so honest...but one could certainly attempt an analysis:  the conservative fundmentalist Christians mobilized behind the Republican Party -- versus -- everyone else! And 'everyone else' could be anything from a liberal Episcopalian Democrat to a scientific secular humanist.

Religions have very long and convoluted histories...but that is basically the highlights.

Peace,
Beth
