Astral Projection Caught On Tape...

Here's a detailed journal of the video astral projection that I recorded on 3/5/1996. I reviewed the tape last night and refreshed my viewing of the event. A lot of people have been asking me about being able to see the video for themselves. I have no problems in doing so, but first I need to buy the video capture card and transfer the vhs tape to .wmv / mpeg format. I'll then ask the mods to post the video on-line to where its accessible and give a link for download.

To be exact, it took me 9mins 37 seconds to enter the trance state with the vibrations running their course, heavy and painful. My face expressions you can see a sudden jolt when the vibrations kicked in. During the tape recording there was no signs of REM that I could see.

Begining to end of the experience it starts when the vibrations first take plce and when I finally awake physically. The total running time is 8 mins 34 seconds. The time of the experience in the astral seemed 2-3 minutes, but in the physical it was 8 mins and 34 seconds to be exact. So I guess that time is accelerated in the astral while in the physical is slow?

Well, anyways here's the journal in its glory. I can't wait until I get the ip cameras and do more research with this. Do I believe that astral projection exists "Yes" and we are able to survive outside of the body after death or during physical life "Yes". Why the need to experiment? - Its my analytical mind and curiosity to test,experiment, and hopeful my data will help others along their path.

Note: To bend light is a metaphor that I heard in a movie of making oneself invisible. Also, the time on the VHS video was super long play, hence duration time of the experience was longer then sequence of events.


For the last past 4 months I've been trying to capture on VHS video tape a astral-projection, but there have been many attempts of failure due to many variables. I believe that the camera is a mental barrier in the way of my astral projections in trying to capture it on video tape, but tonight I changed that.

I was downloading a few files to my Macintosh computer and decided
to leave the lights on in my room with the video camera recording. I'd say that it took me about ten minutes to enter the hypnotic state, how I get there I really don't know, I just wake up while my body is asleep and I have the ability to bend light.


Once I awakened into the hypnotic state I knew that the camera was
recording so I tried the following experiments:

Screaming "Rush, I'm here, or Ahhhhhhhhh...."
Waving my hands in front of me

Feeling the vibrations and making them stronger

From that point on I fell to the floor hitting the side of the bed really
hard feeling the pain and making a loud noise. I could feel the sensation of
being pulled back to the physical body but I was able embrace myself
against the bed to resist the pull. While looking around the room I didn't
get the chance to see if the video camera was there or if my physical body
was there either.

Looking at the door entrance to my room, I decided to bring
the door to me without mobility, once I was at the door I cruised down
to the hallway and into the front room. The front room was pitch black
and very hard to see the details of the room, also the only thing I could
really see was the front door. I made it to the front door but was
immediately pulled back to the physical body, from there I awakened with
a little confusing of what took place, shook my head like I was in a trance or something.. I knew that I succeeded in recording the physical body while my soul was able to bend light.

First thing I did was rewind the tape on the camera to view
the physical body movements during the astral-projection. I wasn't
expecting to see much but I managed to keep calm while the tape was
rewinding.

Looking thru the camera eye-lens I saw my physical body just as if I was sleeping, I could see a few movements of my body but nothing
extraordinary. I also saw that I was raising my arm up in the air a little bit like I was batting something away, like a fly for example.

About ten seconds before awakening my eyes opened up for about 5 seconds then closed, after that again my eyes opened then I shook my head like I was in a trance or a spell and reality came to me of what just took place.

4:47am My body jerked once which you also could see it on the facial
expression. (Note: This is when the vibrations hit )

4:49am Head turns to the right.

4:49am Seconds later I raise my hand a little bit to scratch my face then
the hand rests itself upon the chest.

4:52am Light jerk of my head.

4:53am My head moves a little bit.

4:53am Seconds later my arm lifts a little bit up in the air to
bat away something. Example: like batting away a fly.

4:56am Heads turns back into original position, eyes open for a few
seconds, eyes look around then instantly close.

4:56am Eyes open again, shook my head back n fourth which looked
like I was hypnotized or in a trance state that I had just
snapped out of. I saw on my face that I was thinking of what
just happened, took a few seconds to realize than I jumped
out of bed anxiously to see the playback of the recorded
astral-projection.

Speaking from experience this took me 4 months to capture this on vhs tape. God, was I so  glade when I succeed. My sleep cycle sucked for months with the lights turned on, it was terrible. But I managed to persevere thru this.

You don't need the top of the line video cameras to record. If you have a descent size hard drive, computer you could probably get by with a video usb cam for under $100. or less. There's some great software out there that allows motion detection which saves on drive space.

That's a really cool thing to try. I wonder what type of setting you might use to do that (ex: low light level, etc.). Also, why they never really tried that type of experiment in laboratories.... It is so logical to do that it seems. The hypothsesis is that if ghosts could appear on cameras, well....the same if I have an OBE usually! Continue with this experiement since it may bring interesting results someday.

I am sure they've done experiments like this in the past. Stephen Le-barge, Monroe, Bruce they probably have researched this.

The conditions that I exposed myself was keeping the light on in the room and  letting the vhs tape run in slow mode for six hours hoping that I was able to capture the experience. Not really had to do, but takes time, patience, and being able to project..:)

Did you read the journal note? No, the body flinched when the vibes first hit. During the course of the experience while still in between bodies movement carried over. Example: I would raise my hand in the astral and my physical re-acted the event.

oh ok . thats the thing that confused me. question: when you raised your hand, were u sure u had exitted at the time or were u still in your bed "trying" to move your dream body. very cool none the less

I raised my hand while the vibrations were kicking in and waved my hands while outside of the body. So it would have been had to tell when and exactly where it happened. I only raised my hand once.

Well, I was able to capture two more projections recording off my pocket pc. I need to figure out how to edit the files where the experience started and upon awakening. Do you think I should just leave the whole recording in tact for study?

For anyone interested, I just looked on froogle and found sony hi-8 camcorders with nightshot (can record in complete darkness) for ~$150 US (I'm not sure if webcams have nightshot).

Many of them also have firewire connections for importing to the computer.

Attempting to capture on the Sony Night shot is a very good idea.  The infrared function works very well in complete darkness.  That is the reason that many paranormal research groups use them and capture so many anomalies and orbs.  All you really need is a tripod.  The audio on the night shot is excellent so you can capture anything you are saying.  I have tried this a few times but could not Astral Project on any attempt.  For some reason I myself am uncomfortable viewing myself sleeping as I get a lot of EMF and orb activity in my home.  I would suggest also that anyone successful in Astral Projecting using this idea should pay close attention to any unfamiliar voices(EVP) that might be there.  This is a very good Idea however and I am going to get some tapes and try it again as this post has re sparked my interest in this. Webcams do have Night Shot of paranormal locations so you can get an idea of what you can exspect to see in your attempts.

Trust me, watching myself sleep and trying to produce a obe is not a easy task, but possible. It does give a good solid fondation of what's going on the outside during the inner experience. Everytime that I've projected and the experience was captured, I knew the camera was rolling so I made it a extra attempt to scream, wave hands around, turn lights on/off, vibrations, etc.

When you've video tape'd the orbs, did you interact with them, experience them first hand in a obe?

I captured a very good can shaped ORB in my back yard that did interact with me for about one minute until my German Shepherd barked and it passed my left side.  Actially it is the best I have ever seen even on all the sites I have looked at on the internet.  Very well defined and structured and not like all the quick moving energy ORBS I see on line. It was also the same location where several groups that have been at my home seem to head as there equipment leads them to this spot.  I have never seen an ORB while OBE but have encountered several Astral People in my home.  It was positioned about one foot off the ground and came toward me and backed off several times.  It was transparent in the middle and glowed on each end.  I would say it was actually about the size of a can.  I could not see it outside the viewfinder on the camera.  It actually seemed to change shape almost like a distortion in space itself.  Also after reviewing the tape I picked up two class A EVP as me and the dog first entered my back yard that says my dogs name in a loud whispering voice. Actually one very good paranormal researcher that has been at my house several times seems to believe that the abnormal EMF fields I have there are do to Spirit and that somehow they can manipulate these fields to cause Sleep Paralysis and OBE.

Do you have the video handy to share with the AP forum? I am interested. Also, what format is the video in? I've been trying to make a simple video conversion of .avi to .wmv and been running into problems.

The video is on magnetic tape in the infrared.  This has been very frustrating for me as I have inquired several times on the TAPS forum for advice as to how to download it and have not got any response.  I have even offered to mail it through the post office to anyone willing to download it.  As it is it just collects dust in my bedroom closet.  I really feel this will put and end to the ORBS are dust controversy. I do not believe they are, at the very least they are Spirit or some type EM energy field.  If anyone can give me advice how to download this to any site where I can create a link here I would be very thankful. I would also mail it to anyone willing to do this.  I will just make a copy for my own records and off it goes.  I want to keep it as I will be moving to San Antonio Texas next year and will join a Ghost hunting group there and I know they will be interested to see it.  Also sorry for the time delay in responding to this post as my home computer is not working now and I have to post at work.

Why don't you just record the video/audio from another camera source when its playing on the screen? I know the qty will suffer somewhat but at least you have it handy and easy to manipulate to any format.
