The identity of the spirits we come in contact with

I wanted to start this conversation from Oaths post, regarding -  when we come into contact with spirits, how do we know their identity?

There are more than enough authors out there quite willing to tell us thieir thoughts on identifying spirits, but when we come face to face with one, how do we know who or what it is?

For example - a fairly common theory that Angels are genderless. As pointed out in the other topic, Archangel Gabriel does have both a female and a male aspect. That is, Gabriel can appear to people as either male of female depending on circumstances. This is also true for Archangel Uriel / Ariel, whose female aspect both I and a close friend of mine have experienced.

So how did I know it was Ariel? Simple - I asked her!

So what are the thoughts and experiences of others here regarding who's who in the spirit world?

I saw a dragon (spirit) recently. Eyes were closed and appeared in minds eye. Was extremely active and worn out that day which is why the spirit approached me. I see a name for hearing supernatural (clairaudience) but what is the name for seeing? I am quite telepathic and very much a 'natural'. This is how I learned the dragons name, Annapauk.

There are also certain signs or tip offs which are probably unique to each individual and you should take the saying "know thyself" to find out what they are. I hear a tone in my ear(s) often enough which is usually a signal for a foreign presence. The softer the tone, the weaker the entity, the louder the stronger, and if it is pleasurable then it is safe to say the entity is good vice versa. Recently there was a ringing in my ears that was so quiet that it went unoticed. I started to feel a pain in my heart area and became more aware and this is when I heard the not so pleasant ringing. It was a small weak creature and I exterminated it. I find aggression is usually the best policy (for me!) and since being 'awakened' to Yesod have found myself under much attack.

P.S. I would love to hear of your experiences with Uriel in more detail James if we could possibly chat sometime through pms, yim, aim, or msn instant messenger?

Clairvoyance is what you're asking about - the ability to see.
I know the term is mostly use to describe fortune tellers, but it's true meaning is "clear sight" and it describes the ability of spirit vision.

Clairsentience and Claircognizance are the other two "clairs" that should be developed when communicating with spirits - the former being "feeling", the latter being "knowing".
I get the feeling of the type of spirits by way of good warm feeling in the heart, or troubled feeing in the stomach. Further distinction is made by the varying degrees of that "heart" feeling, combined with a "knowing" of the spirit, and seeing what they look like.

Hi James.

I too ask them for a name with which to associate the FEELING I have of them.  This feeling helps me to instantly recognise them again.

When meeting beings I haven't previously met, I tend to go with what my inner knowledge is telling me, the FEELING indicates the presence and intention they hold.  

Many times, an automatic process allows me to remember them even though I have no experience of them in this life.

Uriel is known to me from the Feeling also, before I got the name this life.

So I tend to think that we do know each and every being in existence because we have experience of them all in some greater, bigger picture scenario...  much like it is with the green lady.

Can a spirit lie? Cause then how will you verify in that case?

Yes, spirits can lie about their identity, but they can't hide their true energies.
The feelings you get from a spirit's energies can't be faked. In other words, they might be able to lie about who they are, but they can't disguise what they are.
That's why its so important to learn to use and trust your intuition - it's the ultimate lie detector - both for physical and non physical.

Why can't they be faked? It's possible to shield energy, or parts of energy to change the 'feel'. I've had experience with only showing parts of an overall energy patern, hence radically changing perception of a being - cannot spirits do this to if humans are capable of it?

Spirit's can't fake their truth, just like we can't really fake our truth.  At the broadest level our truth is still our truth.  We can however refuse to see it.  
Some spirit's are able to manipulate energy in such a way that a person concerting with them feels "good", but they may have another agenda.  This agenda cannot be hidden if a person allows themselves to "see" what else is right there, but just like in the physical, sometimes people don't want to see.  they just want to feel "good".  
In my experience the best way to guard against this is by not allowing myself to be controlled by my sensations, and by allowing whatever a spirit projects at me to go through me, by yielding to the energy without reaction.  Each time that this has happened it has resulted in the spirit kind of acknowledging me in it's own way, then going on it's way, no more games.  

There are many entities out there that love to have an "ear" to attach themselves to - I don't believe that they are really evil, but I do believe that because many people want a presence of power other than themselves to tell them what to do, that these entities are more than happy to fulfill that role in exchange for energy.  While this doesn't seem to cause any severe harm, I have seen people unable to let go of this attachment really let themselves lose their own awareness and power of choice.

What believe to be angels that I have communicated with have a very unique feel which I believe is very in tune with the "god force."  The feeling is really one which leaves me in gratitude for everything, the good the bad - all of it.  It's like the feeling is saying regardless of where you think you may be spiritually, as a planet or individually, you are perfect, and so nothing needs to be changed, although you may change and evolve if that is your wish.  I have not experienced a sense of urgency with them, that this must be done or that, it's like they just know that everything will always work out perfectly.
