IM new here. IM glad i found this site. I had no idea was i was experiencing, of course i new i was dreaming, but the kind of dreaming i have no clue. The closes thing that describes the dream is lucid. I want to share this with you all to see if anyone can put some in sight on this for me. I went to bed as usual i remember i wasnt "asleep" long. i remeber laying there feeling totally paralized from FEAR! It felt as if someone ,in this case, some things was in my room with me.. i felt like i was surrounded by the devil and his demons. they were making hissing noises and whispering.. i assume this was the devil cause he said to me Im gonna take her to.. refering to my mom. I new i was dreaming. i cant describe it. I was trying to scream and nothing would come out.. i wasnt dreaming about being scared i was MORTIFIED! i actually could feel the fear inside me. when i finally came to i was shaking and i layed there trying to figure out if it was real. Im not a freak or a devil worshipper or anything like that..This dream happened december 2004, shortly after the death of my brothers..one died in november from pancreatic cancer, (he was in jail) the other who thought he could handle sucking the liquid out of a fentanyl patch  ,died 3 days before xmas. my mom immediatly came to live me. she is poor health. she is all i have left om my immediate family. My dad passed in 98. I sorta think that dream was connected to my grieving.. any suggestions?   :firedevil:

lucidnightmares,
Damn, tough break, im sorry to hear your going through bad times at the moment   . Dont worry if your posts aren't answered quickly, the dream forum isnt as active as the astral ones so it can take time to get a reply.

Your experience seems to be related to sleep paralysis. An example from the forum found when searching for "paralysis".

QuoteMy first experiences with this was more of a sleep paralysis than anything. I would feel myself slip into the "mode" which felt like a massive amount of energy going from my toes to head then all over. I would then be terrified! I would always feel someone was in the room (possibly aliens etc.).

Some information on sleep paralysis from another thread:

I hope this helps you, its apparently very common not to be able to scream and to feel an evil entity of some kind during sleep paralysis, although ive never experienced it.

And finally Welcome to the community!  .

Hi my friend

Yes it seems that you are having some experiences both with Sleep paralysis as well as possibly the "keepers of the threshold" I truly sympathize as I have been through that myself. In Robert Bruce's book on spiritual self defense you will find some very good counter measures and explanations. If you feel the need feel free to PM me or write here and we can maybe review a few things.

Thanks for anwsering my post. I 'm very lucky to come by a forum like this. Even after i knew i was totally awake i just layed there afraid to move and just kept thinking "was that real'' lol.. it hasnt happened since so it was probably because of the grief. i just cant forget it. Im glad to be apart of the group.

Hi lucidnightmares

I'll throw my 2 cents in too.  What you describe is classic Sleep Paralysis, and i truly believe you have absolutely nothing to worry about!

When people "sleep walk", their physical body is awake, whilst their mind is asleep.  Similarly during "sleep paralysis", your physical body is asleep whilst your mind is awake.  It's a very well known condition and happens to almost everyone at some time in their life.

It tends to happen as you drift off to sleep (hypnogogia) or as you slowly wake up (hypnopompia).  The sounds and images you see are called "hypnogogic hallucinations".  They will not harm you!

I'm really sorry about the difficult circumstances you've been through, but your personal anxieties and worries no doubt caused you to have these "negative" experiences.  In happier times your sleep paralysis would not be so frightening.  But these experiences will never harm you IMHO.

I've had similar hypnogogic hallucinations and also sleep paralysis and find it curious when this happens.  I can say from personal experience that the sights and sounds are absolutely indistinguishable from real life sights and sounds.  There is absolutely no difference and no dream-like quality to them at all.  That's why it's so scary to people who experience this.

But when it happens to me I know what it is...  Sometimes I'm a bit concerned because I can hear people moving around the house - when I know the house should be empty, so the call is "am I being burgled or is it a hypnogogic hallucination"?  That's a bit of a problem, but is resolved as soon as I try to move (because i can't).  Then I assume my house isn't being burgled.

Actually I must admit that I do remember having a scary experience like yours once, and when I was finally able to move I did feel a bit spooked.  I kept reassuring myself it wasn't real and couldn't harm me.  You just have to keep telling yourself this.

I've heard that the way to bring yourself out of this is to try to move say just one finger, or your big toe.  As soon as you manage to move a finger or toe the paralysis is broken and all is ok again...

Please try not to worry!

Hope this helps...

hey!!...well its sad that u r going thru whatever u have mentioned ,but i am glad u r fighting it!!
well like all things, even ur dreams have a meaning(although they r not often direct)!! well even i have had these strange experiences , once i was in the same state u had described earlier(paralyzed)...but i was very much conscious and aware!! Just then , an evil entity(a demon child....or something like that)...tried to enter me...and when it was trying...i was fighting it and the moment i won and threw it out...i woke up!!..well ...i have an interpretation which i made according to my intuitions!!...the same way..only u can interpret urs....!!....although....neway there is no such things as absolute evil and good....they are only relative perceptions!! Like all other things in ur life they r just mere mental constructions so as for ur soul to experience these various situations!!...well and i believe u can manifest ur own reality by controlling ur thoughts...!!....so the way to counter those bad lucid dreams....would be just to be positive and telling urself nothing negative will influence u in any way and u dictate ur own reality!!...neway...there are a lot of ppl here who can throw some brighter light to these matters....stick to this site and u will learn a lot(...and i am learning a lot from it....)....neway..cya

I have a different interpretation for your experience but don't want to influence you if I'm wrong, especially when you are emotionally vulnerable.  I'm sorry for the hard times you are having.  If you have a religious tradition I suggest prayer and try some countermeasures like some people have suggested.  If the problems persist then I'll share with you what I think may be happening.  Good luck and God Bless.
