Lucid dreaming AND REALITY CHECKS

Hi travellers

I have a question for you all, and please send as much feedback as you possibly can.

I have been listening to a few soundtracks on CD's, Bineural Beats, and I get to the point of trance state, but always end up dreaming, or just sleeping. If i try to concentrate my mind becomes too busy, and so Im stuck in the middle:(

I have only just started doing reality checks, and hopefully this will induce lucid dreaming, and eventually an OBE. What I would like to know is if there are any suggestions to check if ur OBE'ing or not. Ive heard of the paper method, checking ur hands and so on, but would checking a finger ring do the trick?? I would imagine it would, but at the same time, your mind becomes acustomed to seeing that ring in daily activities, so would this not affect the reality checks??

Please drop a line if you have ANY comments regarding this, and even methods you use to induce these states leading up to an OBE.
All comments are welcome and would be of GREAT appretiation!

Thanks all, and safe travels!

I never use binaural beats or hemisync, etc. I try not to become dependant on something for my travelling.. So I can't really say what's going on with your trance state.

Do you mean check if you're lucid dreaming or not? OBEs are very different from dreams. And when you have projected you will know it.

If you have a watch I would check that. I find that clocks/watches/etc. tend to display the wrong time in dreams. It's a trigger I use sometimes. Sometimes a digital watch will display geometric shapes or words instead of time!
So.. During your 'reality checks,' check the time, and where the sun is, and what you're doing, to make sure it's consistent.

Checking hands usually does it for me.  They get "melty" when I'm out of body, and usually have the wrong jewelry when I'm dreaming; but here's an exception:  The other day in a dream that acquired lucidity, I checked my hands, and they appeared normal, so I decided I was awake.  Then I stuck my fist in the wall and it went through!  Then I realized it was a lucid dream (like Dingo said, it didn't feel like an OBE) and I wished to be back in my body (my awareness, obviously).  Instantly I was back in my chair, and from then I separated more easily than when I induce consciously.

Porkchoppiglet

would it be possible to project FROM your lucid dream??
What i meanis that when you come to the realisation that you aer in a lucid dream, can u from THEN ON leave ur body almost instantaneously?

I have only tried once, and I didn't like it,  because when I'm in a dream, even if I'm lucid, If I stay long enough it's easy to lose lucidity.  Even an OBE can turn into a LD if you don't stay aware.  So sure, I once realized I was in a dream, so I decided to 'fly away' only to find myself in another dream scenario, one I had less control over (I lost the ability to fly, for example)   At the end I was jumping from tree to tree like a monkey    but at some point was frustrated.  Of course, I've heard that in the astral planes environments become more 'realistic', but I think I just lost lucidity and it degenerated into a regular dream.  However, just because I couldn't do it doesn't mean others can't... It just seems that  there's more work involved.

Porkchoppiglet

ok sweet, that does help me a bit.
Have you EVER used binaural beats to assist in AP?

Do you think it helps a BIT even??

Yes.  I've used BWGen but it doesn't have an 'instant' effect- more like 2 or 3 days later.  But I've noticed my projections last longer when I use it. Why? I don't know.

Porkchoppiglet

Im using it now, not NOW but im using it in a few minutes. Ive used it for 3 days. I must say i feel diferent throughout the whole day wen i use BWGEN, i feel more aware of sounds, even the noise my PC is making, any suggestions why this could be??

Supposedly if you switch light switches in a dream, the light will not change and you wil know you are dreaming.
How much longer must you remain in this dream before you finally figure out if you're insane or a genius?

NickJW

Lucid dreams and an astral projection are EXACTLY the same just different in the methid of arriving at the area.

Porkchoppiglet

But with lucid dreaming you can sometimes only controll your actions, whilst in AP you can controll your surroundings too.

Also, in Lucid state you can TALK whilst AP involves projectiong your thoughts, or not?

And I also would be REALLY appreciative if someone, ANYONE could give me a good excersize, weather it being a noticing excercise or meditative exercise, please feel free to jus let it all out.

Thanx alot

There are so many different exercises that all you can really do is experiment and see what works for you. What works well for one person may not work for another. If you can visualize well, a visualization exericise might be good. If not, "The Rope" might do it. But there is no magic exercise. It's all in yourself.

I have to ask before I argue- do you mean OBE and LD are the same, or projecting to the 'astral' and LD are the same?

Because I go OBE and Lucid Dream and the experiences are vastly different- but when I go 'astral' is when the distinction blurs.

No i mean the oobe and LD are the same, or would i be wrong there?

im REALLY sorry to double post, but I think that C method sounds like its worth exploring, and also, I can make up visual scenes very easily, almost like movie scenes, can i concentrate on those, or is it just going to take away the focuss from the thought of projecting??

Thanx
