I heard a quote a while ago talking about how every one of us views the world around us. It goes: "The world that sponatneously appears around me when I open my eyes is an odd mixture of external nature, mental imagery, and inherited prejiduce." I was just wondering how accurate of a description is this of everyday experience? What does it mean? (random thoughts ok)
How much longer must you remain in this dream before you finally figure out if you're insane or a genius?

Seems pretty acurate to me. I look at it in a similar way: Percepts and Concepts.

Percepts are outside of us (external nature), which our senses pick up and send to our brain. Using our mind (thinking) we are able to connect the percepts to concepts that we have accumulated throughout our lifetime.

When you look at a cup, you unconsciously connect all the aspects of it like size, shape, color, movement, etc. to what the concept of "cup" is in your accumulated concepts. If your concepts are incorrect, thinking will link a percept to an incorrect concept. That explains prejudice.

Rudolph Steiner wrote a whole book on the subject called "Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path". It's a complicated read, but very good if you like this type of stuff.

We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
And tore the world asunder.

To anyone who actually watched that film and believed it, you should read this:

QuoteUnfortunately the theory of quantum mechanics does not say this [that reality is created by the mind]. The film makers are confusing the theory of quantum mechanics with an interpretation of quantum mechanics. This is an explanation to help understand what might be going on, but it is not part of the theory because it is not falsifiable: it cannot be tested in such a way that, if it were false, it would fail the test (without falsifying the whole of quantum mechanics, and therefore all the other interpretations too).
Quote from: One of the scientists on the filmI was edited in such a way as to completely suppress my actual views about the matters the movie discusses. I am, indeed, profoundly unsympathetic to attempts at linking quantum mechanics with consciousness. Moreover, I explained all that, at great length, on camera, to the producers of the film ... Had I known that I would have been so radically misrepresented in the movie, I would certainly not have agreed to be filmed.

We can't be having people believing science supports mysticism now, can we?

just figured its a similar topic to what lorider said
