hello wockle,

Try downloading the boxed nirvana 2 from one of the sticky topics, and it took me about a year before i got results but only real succes when i started listening to boxed nirvana 2,
but really it differs from person to person,
but to tell the truth frustration is very common but also a great obstacles to get succes, try taking baby-steps first, you can read how i first got out at the astral experience forum topic; Finally.
But really don't practice till you get sick, it can take years before one can do this in a controlled manner, i most certainly know that it will take me years, perhaps sometimes it happens on occasion which was the case with me, in that case it is just about being lucky and not getting scared so you'll blow everything.

Really it is not like video games, read the manual an go, this is a full commitment practice but the reward at the end is problably and most certainly much better than a unlimited ammo cheat.

Good luck,

bye

It took me about 6 months before I finally "got out". And that was when I gave up.

I've noticed a lot of my progress has come from the simple act of writing my dreams down - and I mean all of them. Do you write them down?
If not, I suggest you give it a try for at least a month. Eventually, you'll find yourself lucid and who knows you just may go "OB"! At least, that's how it happened to me.

Best of luck!

Don't worry.. don't force the things... just let it happen and don't worry about the time.. for some people it takes years. But this doesn't mean that this kennel to you.. forget the time. And if you don't have a patience for adventures try the lucid dreaming , but don't leave the astral travelling .. there are many things you must learn..
Good Luck my friend and again.. let it happen :)

Hi WoCkLe

Try not to be so frustrated - it won't help!  Be gentle with yourself.

It might be worth trying one thing at a time (you may already be doing this - I don't know).  But say, try the boxed nirvana and only that for a month.  Then if that isn't working, go onto something else.

I agree with Leilah about keeping a dream journal.  In my experience, it has helped greatly, not only with OBEs, but a whole host of other things, including getting to know myself on a more personal level - which can be quite interesting

The other thing that I think may help is when you settle down for the night, tell yourself (either out loud or in your head) that you are going to have some wonderful dreams and, more importantly, are going to remember them.  As you drift away, imagine the kind of dreams you would want to have and keep focused on them.  You might find you automatically phase into one of your 'dreams' and if you are able to keep your mind clear and awake - you're there!  But don't force this, or try (as in mentally strain) too hard.  Just drift with the intention of enjoying whatever happens.  In a way, lose yourself in your own imaginings.

WoCkLe,

Don't be discouraged, why do you think Gandolf and Professor Dumbledore have that gray hair!

It sounds like you may be just trying too hard. You have gotten some good advice already and I can't add much. I would just say don't spend too long each day consciously trying to OBE. Believe me, stranger things than that can happen during a "normal" meditation!

Now this next one is going to sound weird, but here goes anyway. If you are in school, work your brain and learn as much as you can. Some say  the brain is like a muscle; the more we exercise it, the better it functions. Logically then, if you challenge your brain in one area, it extends to other areas. I am not explaining this well, but it seems to be working for me.

Also, you might Google for "image streaming" and see if one of those techniques are helpful. They are free and just require practice. Again though, don't push too hard. You can't force it.

Bottom line, the journey we are on is a long one. There are no instant answers. This is not like a TV show or a game, and it is not possible to cheat.

Good luck and hang in there!
