Is our freedom disappearing in the U.S.?

Hi EnderWiggin

First off I'm an Australian, but hey lets not hold it against me. The changes to my nation however have always paralleled those to America. The big political new here at the moment was an attempt to pass a bill inspired by terrorist activity that allows ASIO (like the CIA I guess) to detain anyone they want over the age of 14, without justification or legal representation on behalf of the individual. I think there is a lot of confusion between freedom with safety. What my grandparents went to war for was freedom, what our troops are fighting for now is safety. Personally I think they are equal in importance. I want the freedom to pursue what makes me happy without interference, but I want to be able to do it without someone who disregards human life taking that opportunity from me.

I guess that freedom and safety from one angle can almost be considered polarities of each other, or at least two things that directly affect each other. At present we have less freedom, because the balance has shifted in favor of safety. To me this is ok because there is an increased need for safety in these times. I'm not saying you have the wrong idea however, because as I said I want the freedom to do what makes me happy, what makes you happy obviously requires more freedom than what I need.

It's too bad all the posts here were lost due to the shutting down of the database. That's alright though, I just wanted to know what people thought and I read all of the replies here that were deleted. Someone said that we should learn to work with the system and improve it. The reason things are the way they are is because the current conditions allow them to exist. If we could just alter a few of these conditions maybe we could help improve the country. There is a lot of negativity and sometimes we forget that we have also done a lot of good things for the country. It's alright though, because I think we need to start focusing on what we can do to help. I'd still send around those letters for people to sign and mail them to someone who can help us, but I think we need to get involved globally in ways other than going to war. I think organizations like the peace core can help. People just need to be more aware of their existence and role in helping to make the world a better place. What we need less of is beaurocracies. I think they're totally useless because they just slow things down. I can't think of one useful beaurocracy. Not one.

So anyway, that's where I stand on this so far. Freedom is also a state of mind. What you think you can do affects what you will and won't do.  I still think that we're losing a lot of our rights, but I think something can still be done about it. I don't think we should give up hope.

Yes...we are losing our freedom...for the most part. The government will woo us into complacency if we allow it to. I still feel as though there is hope though and it depends upon each of us individually. I don't think together we are strong (or radical) enough to combat what they will present to us as an alternative to the fear of terrorism. Keep in mind that the collective consciousness is workable if a forum with a oneness of mind is achieved.

Do you think the government has become more ruthless and power-hungry than it was before, e.g. do you think that they'd go after individuals for peacefully trying to stop what they feel is bad from happening if the government didn't want people to stop it from happening? I'm really not sure. They have the power to make it so that each and every one of us never existed. I think that's a little too much power. I think we have to get more forums like this going. It seems to be the only way people can do something about it. We're all so busy because of jobs and school. Look at what is the most important thing in most peoples' lives- Their careers. I think there's something wrong with that if it's only important because they want to make money. I want to go into my field knowing that I'm doing something good for the world. That's why I'm going into music. I have the independence I need so that I can go out and do something for the country as well. These days, I think the government has lost sight of why our country came to be. I hope they can realize that the way they are doing things is exactly what the terrorists want. Who looks like the bad guys now?

We haven't lost just some of our freedoms, I feel we have lost most of them.
The forums will help wake people up to what is going on in our world.
At my age, I figure what the heck, and say what I please, whether vocally or on a forum, etc.
I really hope the NESARA law will be announced very soon.  It was passed in March 2000, and signed by Clinton in August or Sept. or 2000.  If you check out the site I posted above, you will find out why it has not been announced yet.  The last date it was to be announced was Sept. 11, 2001.
Now, go and read more about our "freedoms"

Thank you for the headsup on NESARA.  I have printed down some articles to read more in depth.

I feel like we have less rights in this country today than we did a long time ago. Is it just me or are we slowly losing our freedom in the U.S.? By trying to preserve our freedom, we have only constricted it. I say this: Freedom is a state of mind, not laws set forth to prevent criminal action. The laws only ensure that we can get revenge on the criminals. Revenge is useless. The sweetest revenge is not changing when someone tries to change you. Like the terrorists. We don't need more laws. Many laws really are pretty useless. I'd rather die a free man than live a confined and limited life. I'm sick of being "watched" online, on the phone, and everywhere. F*** the government, f*** laws, and f*** the people who are doing these terrible things to our country and to the world. I'll just do what I want whether it's legal or illegal. I really don't give a rat's arse anymore about what might happen. At least I could say that I truly lived. That, to me, is what being an American is all about. So I feel I must do my patriotic duty and refuse to obey stupid laws and speak out against the sort of things that are being allowed to happen by corrupt and brainwashed individuals.

To remove corruption from the world, you must first remove corruption from yourself.
