the man has a shadow, it is in the left bottom of the picture at the edge verge of the light. still it doesnt has to be real, since its very easy to manipulate pictures nowadays...

I think that most people would like to levitate to fulfill their sense of ego - look at me, I'm flying, I'm a Superman!

.well levitation is not important in this generation because there are many technologies that can be used to fly high.... therefore, dont waste your time practicing levitation...
If you are confused, then do not be confuse so that you will not be confused :D

that photo can be easily photoshopped to look like he is levitating, also you cannot see his back so there could be a pole or something from the back supporting him that makes him 'appear' that he is floating.

Nay

Hahaha.. I've been doing that for a couple years for the kids at barbecues, since David Blaine did it.

Wezzard

Chris Angel has absolutely taken the cake since 2006 ! David Blaines' a wash out has been, unless we turn to Mindfreak, discussion over ! All he's doing now is interviewing Evil Knieval and public attempts at breath-records.

What about:
1. Mindfreaks levitation across roofs of 2 skyscrapers !?
2. Walks across a pool full of water !
3. Takes out advertisements in public papers predicting various exactities !

Chris makes Dave kittenish !
I even tried to like Dave better, but he can't hold candle to Chris.

the question to be asking is not "CAN i levitate"
it should be "WHY do i want to levitate"

Why spend 10 years learning to levitate 3 feet, when it takes me 10 seconds to climb a ladder..

why spend 20 years to learn to levitate 300 feet, when it takes me 20 min to book a hot air balloon ride......

there are far better things to devote your time to...

Point made HD, I can understand where you're comming from, but the reason someone would practice this is something I like to call "discipline". No, there is no better thing to devote your time to. Patience and discipline almost always come in the same package. Don't be discouraged, continue practicing. It will do nothing but make you more disciplined. Also, instead of asking someone HOW to levitate, a more practical method would be to just DO it. There is no right or wrong way. If you are just patient, you will get results. Just TRY. Sit down, and just do it.

Also, we can turn this little question game around and work it both ways:

Why take the time to paint a picture when you could just photograph it?

Why run/ride a bike when you can just hop in the car and hit the gas?

Discipline.

Finally, Meditate on this: Why take the time to build a ladder if you can just levitate?

*Note: this not intended to be aimed at just one person, it's intended for the entirety of the human population*
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Perhaps some day you'll join us, and the world will live as one.

Hehehe..  IMO.. people want to think they can levitate because it gives them a sense of being different and special.  That mind freak guy is nothing but smoke and mirrors.. It is TV after all.

aleshah

If you want to levitate, dont try it.

I tried to levitate after eating a load of beans, and I hurt my head on the ceiling fan.

Nay

Bada bing!..or is that bean?   Mythbusters busted that you could be hurt by a ceiling fan...well, not decapitated or anything.  :-D

Forever

I don´t know if it´s real or not but according to Yoga it´s a Siddhi. Samadhi and Dzogchen stuff  i guess. Upanishads and some Vedic texts talks about how it works.

If there are people who can really levitate, why do they only do it in private?

A friend's dad told me that he went to India in the 60's and accidently walked into the wrong building and saw 3 people in lotus position levitating.

But he was the only one who saw it. How convenient.

Nay

I saw some show, long ago that exposed that some of them were sitting on metal poles hidden in their robes.  I wish I could remember what program that was...sorry.

I saw a show on the discovery channel of people in india sticking swords thru their body, and saying that it didn't hurt.  They then taught the reporter how to do it, and he did it in a pseudo-science lab where they photographed his aura, and it was pierced where the sword was.  (like in his jaw and out his chin or something like that)  When he removed the sword, one drop of blood fell, and the wound healed in like 30 seconds.

Another thing I saw were about 30 yogis.. levitating.  The thing is, they didn't really levitate, they just kinda bounced around in lotus position.  They sat in lotus position and bounced like 5 ft into the air.  They called it levitation.

That's the closest thing to levitation I have seen.  I have no idea what to think about the sword show however.  I'm interested in hearing you guys' responses, because you may have seen this show, I can't recall what station it was on.

Think of all the exposure they would have if they came forward with their levitation abilities.

The offers of money to learn their techniques, like anything it takes time and discipline.
And its not something everyone should seek to have five minutes of fun, and claim their the new messiah.

It should be done in private, and passed on to others on the same journey, or those who truely seek to learn in order to progress.

Without a practical use I don't see the purpose of it. Why would it be so special that you can't show anyone? If it takes years of medtation and discipline to learn, wouldn't showing it to people make them also want to make the journey?

Maybe the world is in the condition it's in because levitators are bogarting the secrets. Between them, the fire-starters, the electro-people, the psi-ball people, and the time-travelers, we could have unlimited free energy & no polution.

Sounds like a possible future episode of Heroes.

I've heard of people levitating accidentally in their sleep.  But they don't know how to do it on purpose.  What do you think of this?

astraluminated

I have seen a historical book where people where accidentally levitating like balloons, they had to use ropes to hold them down. It is indeed a major siddhi, lord Hanuman is said to posses it, with many other siddhis. Some say saints in rapture levitated
and krisna answered; Yes ascension is truly very very difficult for men, unless... Adi Shakti interferes.
