Vibrations/Sleep Paralysis.

A little over a month ago when I was falling asleep, I was really tired physically 'cause I hadn't slept for about 50 hours. Anyway, whilst I was lying there, I suffered from what I'm guessing is sleep paralysis I was terrified I thought I was going to die. I couldn't move, and when I tried to move I felt these vibrations. My vision (I'm assuming my eyes were closed) was extremely fuzzy. I concentrated on moving and after a while it stopped. I sat up, tried to wake up abit for a minute or so then resumed trying to get some sleep. Then it happened again! Twice in a row. I eventually managed to get out of it a second time, sat up and turned on my light.
When I thought about it, I remembered reading up on this about 2-3 years ago after my Grandmother died.

Anyway, the point of my post is this: Is sleep paralysis a good way to attempt an OBE? I wanted to years ago, but always wimped out, lol. And now, when I totally forget about it this happens.

Oh, is it dangerous? I know, probably a stupid question but it did freak me out! lol.

Thank you.

Sleep paralysis may feel freaky, but it is nothing to fear about. As far as I know, it is the state, when one's body is asleep, while the mind is still awake. It is completely normal and natural.

To me, it is also a good way to attempt for an astral projection, because, when the body is completely relaxed and paralyzed, it is very easy to focus on my goals, mantras or whatever else, and shift my awareness to a state when I don't feel my body and am able not to think about it.

Hey CandyKoRn ,  for me , sleep paralysis is just about the only way I can ever fully have an out of body experience.  It is a state that I have trouble reaching though ... I usually fall asleep before or during this paralysis state and would just LOVE to know how soo many people reach this state with ease instead of falling asleep.

If you are able to reach the paralysis state often then I would suggest experimenting with moving your subtle energy body around .. or read up on the NEW technique for moving energy throughout your body if you are unfamiliar with it.. Try to move your astral body out of your physical one once you reach the paralysis state by combining a sort of .. visualization of yourself moving with an actual energy pushing or shifting that the N.E.W. energy ways would teach you how to move.. you know what im sayin?  thats the best way I can explain it at the moment...   I posted somewhere how I exited through paralysis in great deal.. if I come accross it again through search I'll post it in your PM or something but for the most part its combining a visual of yourself moving with very little physical effort as well and it just sort of makes the shift on its own and it feels like slowly peeling through plastic wrap and a syrup coating.. Its slow and eery until you reach a few feet away from your body then you simply become free of that gooey feeling and its much easier to move/concentrate/function.  Its amazing and I really believe its the best way to enter the RTZ or real time zone that everyone here speaks about.  Other projection attempts occur sometime after your body has started dreaming.. this is like .. one of the best ways to experience whats really around your current physical body until you slip into the inevitable Alice in Wonderland effect .. but doing some simple awareness exercises like .. for me would be .. to focus on an object and observe its colors and its size and shape and especially TEXTURE for some reason.. this kinda gets rid of any feelings of being "woken up" or losing the aware state you might be in if your familiar with your awareness dimming while out of body.

I hope this all helps.. feel free to PM me and ask any questions you need.   Peace!

I understand what you're saying. Though this is the only time (that I can remember) this has happened to me. What are the chances of it happening twice in a row though? Lol. Probably not that unlikely, it was just weird.

I have tried to stay 'awake,' mentally speaking, since then. I haven't managed to get to that state again though. Probably out of fear mainly, I've read up on people seeing these 'entities' and that mostly they're caused by your own fears. I've always had an over-active imagination and tend to visualize things I don't really want to see. Or in the Astral sense, see ''physically.''

Is there anyway I could conquer this fear or stop my fears from actually becoming 'real?'

this actually happened to me twice in a row i was scared to fall asleep, and each time i did i woke up in the same state, i felt hard vibrations that night also

If you tend to imagine dark entities, then it might help if you imagined yourself in bright and beautiful places, surrounded by your guides from time to time during the daytime. Hopefully, these images will stick with you and help get rid of the scary thoughts.

In case you encounter hallucinations in the hypnogogic state, just ignore them. They are just flat images and cannot harm you in any way.

(I used to have the same problem, but I am now using my over imaginative mind for different purposes)

I wouldn't recommend just creating a safe environment for yourself. That's like hiding. Why do you need to?

Instead, deliberately manifest these imaginary entities and then destroy them. Have fun with it. You can give yourself magical powers, big guns, anything and everything to destroy whatever evil your mind creates. Nothing can hurt you anyway, your spirit is invincible. I found facing them like this helped me a lot with that problem. Once I had a lucid dream where these evil goblin things were trying to attack me and some other people but instead of running or trying to fight from a safe distance I went directly up to one, picked it up, and stared it in the face as clearly as possible (which has the dual benefit of facing fear and developing clarity in astral sight). Once during an OBE I felt myself about to manifest the "fear" so I put an M16 in my hands... my fear manifested as characters from the game Counter-Strike... which I'd played for years when I was younger so I was very good at it. No problem. You get the idea. It may take a few tries to get it right but in the end its infinitely more valuable a thing to learn than creating a "safe space".

To conclude with, the way how one deals with his fears is just a matter of taste.
