Visitation? Vivid dream? Something else?

Well, I wasn't sure where to post this topic, so I decided here was the best bet (I actually used to post on Jonas Ridgeway, but was dismayed to find it down).  Anyway, I recently moved to a new apartment, and though I have been here only two weeks, I have twice woken up in the morning being able to see but not move, and have experienced vibrations.  That's odd in itself, since before I'd only experienced vibrations once or twice, and never involuntarily.

Anyway, this morning I got up earlier than I meant to, and decided to lie on the couch for a while.  I was lying there, enjoying the breeze and warm sunshine and birds singing outside the window.  I don't remember even starting to doze off, though when this happened I felt halfway between awake and asleep.  Anyway, I felt this pressure on my body, and I was suddenly under the impression that there was someone lying on the couch with me, kind of lower down on the couch, lying on me with their head on my chest or belly, and arms around my waist.  Every once and a while I felt this big squeeze like the person was giving me a hug around my waist. I felt at that time like I was half awake, and began to stroke the person's head because the presence felt very much like that of a close friend I had just left back home during my move.  But even though I could feel someone there I couldn't see anyone, and this confused me.  Eventually I kind of "woke up," with no feeling of ever having went to sleep or woken.  It was very vivid, as I remember while it was happening I was listening to the birds and the conversations of my neighbors (who have the other half of the house) outside, and them walking in and out.

So I'm just wondering ... anyone had anything like this happen to you before? Any ideas of what that might have been? It's one of the oddest experiences I've ever had.

Hi Lonedaughter.

That's a really interesting experience - quite lovely in fact.

I had a sort of similar experience in the past where I was in the vibrational state and I felt a woman's hand brushing my fringe off my forehead in a caressing manner, like a mother would. It didn't just happen once but she kept on doing it - very soothing but perplexing since I have short hair!

Nonetheless my ideal self would be me when I was a lot younger.

A similar thing happened after I had surgery on my nose once in the recovery room, where I had my eyes closed and the same thing happened. I opened my eyes and there was no-one there.
Very nurturing these beings can be.

Perhaps it was your friend.

A similar thing happened to my friend Jo, who woke up in the morning and felt me embrace her like I was insecure and lost (I WAS at the time), it creeped her out since she's quite receptive psychically and she thought I had passed over or something.
(Now this is odd):
She also asked me if I shave my chest (I actually use a removal cream because my chest hair irritates the heck out of me since I sometimes get dermatitis), because she felt a prickly sensation from my chest like regrowth (which WAS there in fact).
She had no way of knowing this....it creeped us both out!

...But proved everything we both knew anyway.

Winged,
Thank you for the reply -- it's good to know that other people have had similar experiences.  Turns out my friend was awake at the time, not meditating or anything (which I think rules out it actually being him?), but it was still a comforting experience.  I'm amazed at how different the energy of this new place is, compared to the last place I lived in which was, shall we say, not comforting at all.
