Hello everybody...

I am jealous about you guys...

I'm trying and trying... had only 1 very vivid Lucid Dream to date, and one clear
quick separation (fell through the bed & joined back instantly)

Never a full OBE... only up to vibes...

But I hope to post my great experiences one day too...  :-)

Well, how long does your OBEs last? Can you hold it as long as you want? Can you spawn people & things like in Lucid Dreams?

Which is the better? (OBE or Lucid Dreams?)

Confused...

Hey I never accomplished it either... don't worry man it will happen some time.

Last time I tried I was to scared to go to sleep for the rest of the night. I acctually forced myself to stay awake although I was very tired. Talk about a bad experience.....

I actually feel guilty when I read storeis like these... I also feel bad for the person and wish I could just 'pull' people out who wanted to experience it.

Most of My OBEs were spontaneous... as in I never had to try. They just happened.  Because of those, I also learned how to induce them by will, but I am not successful every time I try.  Only sometimes.

I have done both lucid dreaming and OBEs, and each have their own allure... lucid dreams are more like Astral Projection in that the experience is more mystical, and you can change things with thought.  Etheric or real time projection is what most people describe when they say they are floating over their physical bodies and they see and experience the physical world in real time.

I prefer etheric projection to AP or lucid dreams, but I also enjoy lucid dreams on ocassion because I can totally control the dream.  Imagine being able to fly without wings, without an aircraft etc!

To OBE you need to truely believe (or be open to it) and be completely relaxed, and you need to get your brainwaves into a deeper state (as in a trance like state... theta but with more alpha rhythms present (alpha are conscious but relaxed, and theta are trance like - REM sleep ocurrs in theta, as does meditatative states etc) do this by progressive relaxation or other methods.  Dont give up!

Thanks everybody for the encouraging words...

Actually I am doing meditation for almost 1.5 years... Thats something I like doing... So I developed a liking for AP and LD only very recently.

I have found that our mental state throughout the day matters... I had the 1st and only very vivid Lucid dream because I did reality checking the whole day... And had a very strong will to have a Lucid dream that day...

But other days when I get busy at office, when all that I have in my mind is software and other technical stuff, I don't even know when I fall asleep...

So, now I have a plan... I am going to dedicate at least 1 hour to read about AP & LD everyday... That will take all the common problems out of my mind & will make me think only about all-things-spiritual...

Hope that will work.

Also, Guhan if you want to work on lucid dreams try starting a dream journal. If you dream every morning then just keep asking yourself if you're dreaming or perform reality checks whenever you remember while you're awake. This get the "doubt of reality" programmed into your subconscious so in theory you will do it while you are dreaming! If you don't dream though, I recommend the wake up and immediately go back to sleep, repeatedly, technique. Not real complex but it works for me.
Also, I think what you said about reading about AP & LD everyday... "That will take all the common problems out of my mind & will make me think only about all-things-spiritual"...will work, but I recommend some Walsch books first, as I think that is what opened the door to me, and is spiritual if that's what you want.  :-)

Hello psychonaut...

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I didn't know about Walsch before. I'll Google & see why you recommended.

I used to read books of Paul Brunton.

By the way thanks again for the suggestions.

I started trying to project about a decade ago.  Haven't found any methods that work - the people writing the methods have been projecting by accident and never really know the physics of an OBE, so they're just writing gibberish they think correlates to the projection.  I fell out by accident once and it was accompanied by buzzing and electrical feelings, but the other time I purposely projected out of a dream - I'd say projections are much nicer than dreams cause you're right there in reality, not in a place you're making up.  It's true freedom and not delusional freedom.

well thats debatable zareste.

I would suggest what others have suggested, just let it go.  If you try to hard it will only block you.  The first time I projected it was what I considered a failed attempt at the time.  I had given up on it and was just going to go to bed and suddenly as I let go of all the effort inside me *bam* I was out and it was amazing.  I would also suggest keeping a dream journal as others have said, it does wonders.

I don't see any debate, so that goes out the window.  The simple fact is people don't generally know how spirits work, so the OBE techniques will range from meditation to standing on your head and whistling Dixie - they're just recording what they happened to be doing when they left their bodies and regarding it as a technique.  What we need is biological facts on spirit/body interaction.
