Did I Open My Third Eye?

This morning, I came out of a LD, and just laid there. So, I was just watching colors behind my eyelids, when I noticed one particular green/purple blob that kept repeating its movement of appearing and disappearing. So I focused in on it, and it changed to what looked like a shiny blue disco ball, and the edges looked like it was illuminated (think of a solar eclipse). This then changed to what looked like a red/yellow kaleidoscope (what it looks like to look through one), and this went on for about 20 seconds. The whole time I was awake, and completely aware of myself. Then it just went away.

If I did open it, should I close it? How do I close it?

If not, what are the benfits of opening one (been interesting in trying lately), and what do you see when you open it?

It sounds very much like the usual hypnogogic (or hypnopompic) images one gets.  I get that kind of stuff pretty regularly, and I can be fully awake and aware of myself (I can even move the physical body slightly). 

Personally, with regard to closing it or any other chakra for that matter - I think this is unnecessary.  Our bodies are more than well equipped to look after themselves.  I don't think they are "closed" in the first place - perhaps just dormant and waiting to be acknowledged.

As to how to open the third eye - I haven't really got a clue.  I'm not sure what is supposed to happen when the third eye opens - and whether it's very similar to the hypno images.  If so, it would be hard to tell one from the other.  Perhaps some folks call the hypno images the "opening of the third eye", rather like some folks use the term "astral proper" (whatever that is...). 

So therefore, we might be experiencing the same thing, only I would believe them to be hypno images and someone else would believe it was the third eye opening?

Gee whizz, I'm getting confused...

hey guys im pretty sure that i can open my third eye whenever i want. to me it feels like a pressure just above right between your eyes. if you concentrate on it, you can increase the pressure sensation and ive found that you can actually move it slowwly around your head, anyways im not exactly sure if this is the third eye chakra opening or whatever, but its in the right place. the way i "open " my third eye, is  just relax your eyebrow and forehaed muscles, let them droop.. while youre doing this, concentrate on feeling a pressure at that location. another way i used to feel this sensation was closing my eyes, and placing my fingers near my third eye but not touching, see if you can sense by pressure sensation when your fingers are near your forehead or not. hope this helps, ive only had one obe and i exited through my third eye, i wrote it in another forum, check it out if you want to.

Well last night, I had almost the same experiences as the original poster...

I used an amethyst etheral crystal on my third eye chakra to help energize it before I went to bed last night and after closing my eyes-I was treated to an amazing color show with all these swirling dots and other colorful things...

Also, I felt this pressure upon my 3rd eye area that started moving around my entire forehead...it was starting to hurt a little bit...

After I fell asleep, I had 4 really vivid dreams that I recorded as soon as I woke up...

So I guess its not so much about "opening" your third eye(Its already open), but I guess it just depends on how much energy you have stored there...

One other thing, practicing NEW daily has also caused me to have these experiences more frequently...Vivid dreams, seeing the hypnogogic images, seeing energy, etc...

I don't think you guys are talking about opening your third eye
just because you can feel it i dont think its open because i have been meditating for a while
on my third eye chakra and can feel it 24/7. when i close my eyes, like to go to sleep, i can feel it moving left to right , all over the place really. However i spoke to an experienced individual with an opened third eye and she told me that this means my third eye is becoming active and soon to open. I am quite sure that if it is open you will KNOW it.
