Well it was the first time I ever tried to project out of a dream.

The events that took place in the dream lasted for what seemed like 3 days. I wont go into details of the dream but it involved ufos, playing heavy metal guitar in a band, and flying about a lot.

During one of my flying moments I became fully lucid while I appeared to be flying over an ocean or some other flat plane, with the exception of the horizon or curvature of "the earth."

I declared "In with the astral, out with the dream!", and what happened immediately after that was that the ocean turned into what looked like many different colored grids, sort of like farmland when you're flying over it in a plane. I also felt like I sped up at that moment too.

Then I woke up.

Any advice on how to enter the astral from dream?

I know I should have looked at my hands to remain lucid and in the dream but I forgot about that...when I fly in dreams I usually spread my arms apart and I think that if I drop my arms then I would fall.  :|

Hi Psychonaut

Entering the astral from a dream - well, it sounds like you did do just that.

There is a post in the Astral FAQs with a method.

There are lots of ways of disposing of the more "dreamlike" qualities of a dream.  It's a case of using what works for you.  I find that once I'm lucid, I deliberately go through a door/window, placing intent to leave the dream behind.  This tends to change everything.  However, I'm of the opinion that the dreamworld is actually the astral, so we are already there.  It's just our level of lucidity that we need to manage and control.  How to keep as lucid as you are now reading this is the tricky part.  :-P

Placing intent is a crucial element - at least it seems to be for me.

yeah, I have trouble with entering from dreams too. Every time I become lucid, I have a desire to AP and suddenly everything goes black and I wake up a second or two later *sighs*. Though lately I've had very little success since I became lazy and stopped keeping a dream journal, which I think greatly helped. I guess I'll just have to up the effort a bit hehe.

But keep trying phychonaut. You'll get there eventually.

Spot on.  Same for me too.  It's really a simple thing, keeping a dream journal, but it's so very hard to keep up.  Especially when you have lots of dreams - it can take ages writing/typing it all up.

Ultimately, it's worth it though in my opinion.
