Well I've been attempting to project for almost a year now but still no luck, so I'd just like to get a little idea of how long it took everyone else.  And yes I do know that peoples first projection vary very widely, I'm just a little curious is all. 8-)

Feel free to post exactly how long it took you if it was over a year.

I've been trying off and on for about a decade.  The old meditation ploy doesn't work, nor does any other method I've come across.  What I've learned is that scams are everywhere, and the vast majority of people who exit their bodies aren't doing it because of some breathing technique they got off the internet.

F)  None of the above.  It just started happening.

I started AP'ing through meditation and OBE exercises, disicipline and daily practice. My first OBE happened after about a month, the next was over a year later.

Don't be discouraged if it dosen't happen too quickly. It's a skill that takes (and lasts) a lifetime. Even after one experience it still takes tons of practice.

Yeah, I was spontaneously projecting as a child.  Then I read a very old book on astral projection around 18yrs ago... only thing I got out of that book was how to do breathing exercises.  I also read an old book on self-hypnosis which helped me to relax my body and go into a trance. I then started having very, very long epic length, what I thought to be just dreams...NOT..lol.

When I came here I learned how to go to the RTZ and that's it.  All the different titles and definitions had me so confused I didn't know wtf I was doing anymore.  I finally got it all worked out in my head now.  Don't allow other people's definitions, titles or experiences to pigeon hole your experiences.  Like I said, the astral is as personal as a fingerprint, imo.   So, if the experience speaks to you, then allow it to do just that...speak to YOU..  Don't use anyone else's yard stick to measure it on wether is was an lucid dream, rtz, obe..etc...

It's YOUR experience.  :-D

Wow, that makes a lot of sense, I guess thats why everyone's projections and time to do em are so different.  It's almost been a year for me now but I've recently have made some real progress and I think it wont be to long now.  :-D  8-)

I bet your right!  :-D I think we all need to step back and stop forcing things.  You'll find that you don't feel so pressured and emotionally your more...level...or whatever..LOL..

Take Care! :-)

crazy as this sounds... one week..

And the next week i had another.

This was a little over a month ago when this happened.. i have stopped trying since than because i paraglide every morning and night and am much to tired when i get home...

But this morning i woke up and randomly got intense vibes out of no where.. ha ha next thing i knew i had rolled off the side of my bed inbetween the wall and the bed which is only about two inches of space..  i than flew out of my room and jumped down the stairs heading for the front door.. i should have tried to go through it but instead i stupidly tried to open it and immediatly i was back in my body.. ha ha, i was so ticked cuz thats the farthest ive made it from my room.. and i wanted to go outside.. maybe next time

Payce, and keep it up

Are we sleep-walking through our waking state or wake-walking through our dreams?

Nay

Hehehe.. great experience!!  Been there done that!

I STILL have tiny issues about height when I don't control it.  I would think paragliding has help greatly in your flying around the astral...ok, slightly jealous here.  :-D

PuRpLe

It has taken many years for me to have even the slightest inkling of an OOBE.  After years of studying, reading, and trying OOBE I finally woke up next to my sleeping body for just a few seconds.  Hasn't gone much past that point to be honest with you, although lucid dreams are a very common and controllable occurance for me these days.

okoklo

Well I must say, even though your progress seems slow, it's good that you still have the determination to accomplish this task.   :-)  8-)

okoklo

Hmm, seems like many of you accomplished this task fairly quickly compared to myself, but I wont let that discourage me.  :-D

Goober

I was trying to OBE for about a week. I sunk into my bed, and was startled by it because I never even got vibrations.

Now I'm having trouble again, I think I had that beginner's luck ;). I don't care though, the more I try, the better I get.

Stookie

I think that the "beginner's luck" (which I also experienced) is a way to let you know that it's real and possible so you don't give up. When you have that little inkling of proof, you know you can do it again sooner or later.

I couldn't agree with you more Stookie. Once you have experienced it, even just a really vivid lucid dream, it stops becoming a question of if, and rather a question of when.

Just curious, how many people have coincidentally had long breaks between meaningful inner experiences after talking about the event?

Can this effect people who are just learning, more than someone with more experience?
