I've been pondering for a while on what colors to paint a certain room and have had a hard time deciding. Time is getting short and I have to pick soon. I know that I want it colorful and dynamic, but just haven't been able to choose the right colors - until now.

A couple days ago I began meditating and went into a good trance, staring at swirly colors, began visualizing the room, and then BOOM! - I had a crystal clear image of the room fully painted and complete. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Has anyone else recieved artistic inspiration from meditation, AP, or visions?

its quite funny you say that, i've only recently discovered the creative power meditation brings. It was by accident really. I seem to get some pretty cool visual ideas when trying to hit a state for an OBE. It all comes without any particular effort, its like my mind is just pondering over my last trail of thought. I guess its really just hypnogogic imagery.. but its pretty damn usefull none the less!.

I'm a Graphic Designer so being able to dodge past creative blocks is a gold mine find for me!

out of curiosity, what colours did you come out with? (i'm into feng shui so would be interesting to note if the colours are actually healthy in energy)

Cobalt blue, a medium green, & white trim (my avatar will fit perfect in there). It's a long room with half the floor hardwood and the other half will be colbalt blue carpet. I picture it being laid-back, relaxing & soothing. It's a little different, but so am I. The other rooms weren't a problem like this one - I intuitively knew from the beginning what they should look like.

I get some good song ideas from dreams and AP's.  The other night a grueling and horrendous LD about a zombie pig apocalpyse.  I was in my living room  talking to my mom and suddenly she just turns around and is half pig and starts attacking me.  I killed her with a butcher knife and ran outside.  There where pigs and people everywhere, total mayhem.  I had to run throught the LD twice, it was almost like a video game.  I am writing a song about it right now.

hahaha zombie pig apocalypse!.. sorry, im sure it was very frightening at the time. But if you name a song with that title it'll be a sure hit!

Stookie.. thats very interesting how it picked the right colours for relaxation. Those are a great mix. Earth and Water energys. Green is a healing colour which is usually recommended in bedrooms because of its relaxation properties and grounding energy. You might be suprised to know that the blue will help with self discovery! (usually directed at your career). Hardwood and carpet are also good earth energys, tho i'd recommend you complete the trinity (it is often recommended to have a balance of 3 of the 4 energys) and throw in some candles, inscence/oil burners or better yet use soft yellowish lighting to get some fire energy on the go. Some quartz or amethyst crystals geodes will help set the mood while also helping reflect light if placed near windows/light source. Theres alot more you could do with positioning and vertical/horizontal alignments but i wont get into that lol.

I think that being in an meditative state helps foster creativity, as all the pragmatic "junk" in our consciousness fades away and we tap into our subconsciousness.

I had a creative breakthrough the other night that just came to me out of nowhere as I laid down for bed. I now have finished a web site for which I've had a creative block for a couple of years.

Some time ago, there was an article on a local newspaper about being lazy on summer holidays. One of the points to just relax and do nothing at all (you know, workaholics cannot do this very easily) was that people get the best ideas when they are doing nothing.

For what I know (I'm very lazy at best), this seems like a solid fact :D
I do lots of music and programming (which sometimes involves some pretty hard creative/analytical thinking), and the best sparkles of inspiration and the best ideas have hit me when doing nothing and just thinking of something totally useless non-sense. Good to have chocolate to go with these moments, too :)

I once had a major (the-whole-project-will-be-blocked-until-I-solve-this) problem with a program I was coding, and finally got to sleep tired and frustrated and with no solution to the problem.
At some point in my sleep, I saw a dream where I just suddenly knew how the problem can be solved, and I immediately woke up. I wrote everything down (just to be sure, altough I knew I would remember it) and went back to sleep.

In the morning I woke up, sat at my computer and implemented the "proposed" solution. Then I tested it, and everything worked just fine.
I forgot to thank my subconscious for the great work, but I think it got its thanks in the form of seeing me so happy :)

There is one painting of mine...I don't remember painting it. I remember seeing it though, as a real place some time during the process.

When you connect with your intuition, it's like there is no artistic decisions to be made - the ideas/creations present themselves. It's a great feeling being in that flow.

Short and to the point!

I think this is why musicians get pretty strong kicks from composing their music. I've always had hard time explaining this to anyone asking about it, but basically, when the flow begins, it feels as if the music lands down into you from somewhere as a continuous stream of sounds, and you're forced to concentrate on what you're doing with it, to get it absolutely right.
To sensation that comes from the realization of being in this state doesn't ever seem to lose it's power.

Nay

I don't know where it comes from but if I just stare at a blank canvas I sooner or later see what I'm going to paint. :)
