I was sitting at my computer last night playing a game of some kind and I started to feel a little short winded.. so I figured , ok maybe I should breathe a little deeper knowing that the feeling I was going through was very similar to an incident that happened a month earlier resulting in me passing out on the floor and waking up to my body shaking uncontrollably for a few moments and almost repeating instantly...  So anyway .. I started to realize that this whole "passing out" feeling was starting to come over me again and so I tried to regulate my breathing ... breathing deeper... wasnt helping ..  I went outside into the fresh night air ... still not helping .. I got on my knees and damn near had my face on the ground before it started to ease up .. but each time I would make any signifigant movements with my body I would start to black out.. things would just go dark on me and I would feel like im passing out .. so I managed to get to the sofa and lay down hoping either I would pass out or just friggin die... anyway .. I lived unfortunately but  the strange part was.. while laying there waiting for whatever it was to take it's tole... I started to see through my eyelids at a certain point.. I could make out my surroundings except it was a different view point .. or something ... I didnt go too much further into this state because I thought I was actually dieing so I kinda moved around a bit on the sofa and it totally ruined the state I was in... although that feeling was gone.. I was still left with wondering what exactly it is that seems to come and make me feel like this every once in a while totally out of the blue...

The first time it happened I thought it was maybe cause I didnt eat ... but last night when it happened I had just had a nice meal... maybe it was the pot I smoked? Although pot never has that effect on me .. I did try to smoke some pot again after recooperating from last night's first "passing out" feeling.. and after smoking some more pot I instantly felt like that again.. .. but I smoked the same pot after that incident yesterday and I never got the same feeling come over me.. I dunno what it could be that makes me start to pass out like this ... and I also found out that one of my best friends died that night and I remember having extreme pains in my stomache and nausea to the point where I thought I was going to have to puke to end the passing out feeling..

I dunno if that is in any way connected but I thought it was interesting to note that I started having OBE sensations after laying on the couch and starting to see through my eyelids is a sure sign of a starting OBE for me.  I told you it was ...ODD...

Next time that happens breath into a brown paper bag... it sounds like you were hyperventalating.

I still can't get past that you remind me of someone....oh well.  :-)

That sounds very much like what happens when you smoke too much pot... i.e. a bad trip...

But if it's not related to drugs, see a doctor.

Yeah I would definately stop the drugs if I were you.  Your body might react bad to certain chemicals.

If that's not the case it could be a number of things.  You would want to get a blood sample to check for diabetes and anemia.  Worst case senario is that your heart isn't functioning properly.  Definately go see a doctor no matter what.

I get sort of like that if I don't eat 3 meals a day with snacks in between.  I have a really fast metabolism and my blood suger will drop.  I usually eat some fruit in between breakfast and lunch, then maybe some cheese or tuna in between lunch and dinner.  Otherwise if I am exerting energy and I don't eat I will pass out.

Nay

I get the same way markulous.. I knew I was blessed with a fast metabolism but had no idea that is why I feel lightheaded, shaky and nauseous if I do not eat a little something for several hours. Thanks for that info!

Sorry in advance if I'm butting in but it sounds exactly like what my Husband does, or did.  After years of what he called 'passing out' I witnessed him do it and finally took him to a neurologist.  It turned out he has a mild case of Epilepsy.   I suggest you see a neurologist as soon as possible.

Epilepsy is a part of the brain that has 'gray matter' or a dead spot.  When the electro magnetic fields pulse on that part of your brain it triggers the seizures.  He went to several different doctors before they finally found it, and they only found it because it happened during one of the tests.  His spot was so minute that they never caught it prior.

There are several types of epilepsy:  childhood ~ which you can grow out of. Adolescent ~ which you grow in to, and grand mal ~ which you have your entire life. (there are others but that's just the basics)

I don't know your age, but I highly suggest you have it checked.  When he started to have his seizures he was in his late teens, they too thought it was from drugs.  Whether there is a connection or not to the drugs is a mute point, it is something that really needs to be addressed medically.

I want to thank everyone for their input on this thread... except for iNNERvOYAGER 's post which was just childish and immature to say the least...

I think its safe to say I can rule out pot as being the main culprit of these experiences simply because I've been a pretty regular pot smoker for the past 4 years and if it was the cause of these "passing out" episodes then it would happen much more regularly.. I have reason to believe it may be my diet... which lately has consisted of only one (2 if I think about it) meals a day.. I know I have a fast metabolism myself and so no matter how much I eat its hard for me to gain weight .. but I can do just fine eating 3 slices of peanut butter and jelly like I did just now as my first meal of the day at 8:11pm ... you see what I mean?  I'm sure my eating habit is not the healthiest one.. but I really don't mind it unless its contributing to these onsets...

As far as the possibility of epilepsy.. it would surprise the crap out of me to find out this applies to me because I'm constantly.. and oh boy do I mean CONSTANTLY on a computer/video game.. yes I'm that much of a loser it seems... I'll hope on this thing sometimes before even brushin my teeth when I wake up..and theres really been no significant visual effects to bring on such onsets because last night I was just reading a webpage or typing an instant message when it occurred...

I do have a small gut feeling I might have heart issues.. but I'm afraid to get anything checked because if I see the problem on paper I think it would be much easier for me to rid myself of the problem than if I was unsure about the exact problem to begin with.. (through energy healing ) Does that make sense or just sound like a dumb idea!?

I know I couldnt possibly be exerting too much energy because I dont think sitting in a chair typing would be considered strenuous... but on the contrary it would be because I wasnt doing much of anything to begin with and I could simply be needing some exercise?

I guess I do need to get this checked.. maybe a stress test is in order like they did for my dad when they told him he had heart palputations..

If/when I find out what it is , I'll be sure to update everyone that cares.. Thanks so much for your support guys and I'm sorry if I offended anyone by yet again defending pot.. heh..

Zarklon,

There are a couple of things that make me think that my impression is something you might want to seriously concider.

Quote1.similar to an incident that happened a month earlier resulting in me passing out on the floor and waking up to my body shaking uncontrollably for a few moments and almost repeating instantly

It sounds as though you had a seizure, came out of it and went right back into it.  My husband has done this many, many times. He also has the same precursor to his siezures, he tells me he knows he's going to pass out.

Quote2.The first time it happened I thought it was maybe cause I didnt eat ...

Diet does play a part in all aspects of life, but unless you have really low blood sugar or something like that, it shouldn't trigger you passing out.  I too have a very fast metabolism, and have the same eating habits as you do and I have not ever passed out.  I do feel weak and sick, but have not passed out.

Hopefully you have insurance and you can go to your doctor, explain what is happening and have him do a simple blood test.  If they all come up normal you can bet your doctor will refer you to a neurologist.

Here's another aspect you need to concider:  When my Husband started his 'episodes' he too was into drugs like I mentioned previously.  Nothing much was addressed by his parents, as I said they chocked it up to pot and whatever other halucinegens he was into at the time.  Well, he grew out of the drug scene and still had 'his episodes'.

We had taken him to several doctors for MRI's and the like but nothing ever showed up.  We blew it off yet again.  Then one day he's driving a work truck on the freeway and gets that feeling of passing out.  He tries to pull over, but doesn't make it in time and crashes (we now call it Mr. Toad's wild ride).

Obviously he had to go to the hospital as he was pretty banged up, teeth knocked out, hand ripped in half, (I'll spare the gory details) but it took a plastic surgeon over 5 hours just to stitch up his lips.  (you get the idea)

ANYWAY they assigned him a neurologist in the hospital and it was finally diagnosed.  The hospital had to report the accident to the DMV.  He had to go in front of the board of the DMV and plead them to keep his license.

That is a huge part of what I'm urging, I know I sound like I'm the doomsayer, but if it continues and your blood tests come back fine, I think it's worth looking into.
